I have a 30ft TT that is around 7k empty. I started out with a 1500 gmc. While it did the job it just didnt feel safe. So i traded it in for a 6.0 hd 2500 gmc. Its night and day. Gas millage isnt much different. Its so worth the money. While i would love to have a diesel i couldnt justify the added costs of owning one. The 6.0 has tons of power up hills and passing are now easy. I would highly recommend the GMC/chevy 6.0.

I pulled with a 1/2 ton in similar weights. The truck did it but I was not happy with some of the high rpms and movement at times while towing. I made the choice of a 3/4 to get the heavier platform. The towing is a night and day difference in stability. No more sway, not a even from passing trucks. WD is still required, it takes 5 minutes to install and makes the ride that much better. I cannot speak to the Chevy 6.o other than it seemed to suck some gas when I drove one for a week. Just looking at the truck stability and ignoring the power or diesel v gas.. I believe you will love the feeling of better comfort and control with a 3/4.

Not yet, but a serious cleanup has been done. Many posts got waaayyy off track, including some political comments that will be reviewed by the site team to see if any further action is needed.

Y'all play nice now, ya hear !!

I have a 2016 f250 6.2L 3.73 crew short bed. Not that impressed with 7.5 MPG towing, 11 empty! But control, stopping power, payload increase trumps the MPG. TT is 8000 Lbs. 34'. This also not a daily driver she has but one job.

Thanks for your MPG report. I had 2012 Chevy HD with a 6.0 gas and got similar mpg. I read some people on this forum saying they are getting 15-18 mpg with HD gas trucks and I don't know how they get that good of mileage. I don't even get that good with my diesel.

Wind at their backs and 2x4 prob.. I had always heard the 10 to 12 on the gasser. I get 16 - 19 on the diesel. Right now I am at 16 to 17 with the winter fuel and warming it up in the AM.

Got to remember all the improvements to the engine since your 2012. Yes I get 18 to 19 mpg with 2015 chevy 6.0 non towing. 9 to 11 towing 4.10 gear. Later RJD

Yeah I don't know either. Makes me want to take it bake to dealer cuz something must be wrong. I started thinking it had gotten 4.10 gears slipped in by mistake.

I agree the 6.0 does one heck of a job pulling. Mine is a 2500 2015 6.0 Chevy. Does more than I expected and I'd never own a diesel as can not justify the cost. Later RJD
