As for the egg shape I use a product called Hitch-Vise. I'm a 5th wheel owner but also tow a boat and dump trailer. The hitch-Vise prevents any hitch slop keeping the pin in place.

You can also take the slop out of a hitch by drilling and tapping the collar on your receiver using a 3/8" gr 8 bolt.

Trimax makes a nice barrel lock pin. You can get receiver lock and hitch pin lock keyed the same so you only have one key. I have several trailers so I got 4 hitch pins keyed the same. I ordered off their website and shipping was fast.

Use any (Name Brand Pin) just make sure that it is Long enough for the newer class V 2-1/2 size they are using on TVs now! There will be NO slop in your hitch with the W/D bars properly set! Remove after use if noise is a issue. If you have a little ball mount that makes (Rattling Noise) and you use any method to control it use Plenty of (Never Seize) if you live in the (Salt Use States)! There are plenty of U tube Vids where people have removed the PIN by (Cutting/heating/beating) then chain the Ball to a Tree and try to (Pull/Jerk) the Ball Mount out of the hitches! Youroo!!

I have a Trimax T3. Only 15 bucks on Amazon. The key is on my key chain so I can't forget it. I can highly recommend this hitch pin after 5 years and 20,000 towing miles.
