Bilstein Shocks

So often I read here where people have replaced their OEM truck shocks with Bilstein shocks. However, I haven't noticed any references to which particular Bilstein shocks they used -- which series or model number. I am interested to know which Bilstein shocks everybody has used.

Which Bilstein shocks would be best for my 2015 Cheverolet Silverado 3500HD crew cab with 6.0, 4x4 and 8' bed with no lift? Is this enough information, or do I need to be more purpose-specific?

Bilstein 5100's have always worked well for me.

I went with the 5100 also they work good for me, also but i did put air bags on the back just to frim up the back from a little body roll i would get in a good cross wind i just run 15.PSI in them and that keeps it off the overloads and helps a lot i have about 1900 lb in pin weight. i bought mine through e shocks they were about the best price i found

I put on the 4100 series on my F350. I ask for 5100 but after the tech looked them up he said they were designed for trucks with a lift kit and the 4100 are without lift. I have read that people have put them on non lifted trucks.

Edited - That should read 4600 series not 4100 series.

You are right 4600 series.

I use the 5100 shocks. They make a noticeable improvement in ride and handling.

Do you use these in replacement of the stock shocks with a non-lifted truck? Which 5100s do you use. There are so many variants.

When I got my 4600's last year there was only one front set and one rear set that fit my truck.

I am installing Bilstein's on my truck next month. i am going with the 5100's. My truck is not lifted. The different variants on the 5100's I believe are for different lift heights. Just go with the 0-2" and they will work just fine.

Nomad, for your truck the part numbers are - 25-196474 for the front, part number 25-196481 for the rear, these are 5160 series shocks for a 0 to 1.5" lift. You will want to double check with your preferred supplier for the correct part numbers before you purchase.

Yes, the 4600 is an easy choice -- there's only one that will work. However, there are a ton of choices in the 5600s.

Nomad if you just want a OEM replacement Bilstein heavy duty shock, the part numbers are
24-196444 for the rear
24-196437 for the front
like I said before double check with your supplier.

If you want a 5100 series numbers are
24-196451 for the front
24-196468 for the rear
these are for a 0-1.5" lift

I called the shop that installed mine and that main focus is lifted trucks and this what he explained to me.
That the 4600 and 5100 have the same specs but the 4600 is made for trucks with zero lift. The base 5100 is made for truck with a lift kit. The way the shocks works is when the shock is in center travel it moves either way from center the resistance increases the father away from center the shocks moves. On a stock truck the 5100 shock would not be at center travel and the 5100 would be a compromise to allow for a 0 to 2-inch lift but will work fine and nothing wrong with using them. He also said that by the seat of pants you probably won’t be able to tell the difference except if you get the 5100 you wallet will be a little thinner and easier to sit on.

I put the 5100s on my non lifted C2500 and love `em! Look for the 0 to 2" lift (or something like that).

Bilstein has a database that will direct you to the correct shock for your vehicle. Go to a vendor in person, or on the net and input your vehicle specific information.

On Amazon, the 5100's and 4600's are within a dollar or 2 of each other...well, for the ones I need. Don't know about the others.
