Kind of the like you are saying , gee how dumb is this guy that he only now noticed this. Maybe you didn't mean it that way. Cheers

To me that statement makes no sense. The very purpose of the door stickers are so that owners will know the capabilities of their vehicle. It wouldn’t matter if it’s for a brain surgeon, an astrophysicists or a person who is illiterate. That’s where the information is and that’s where you go to get it. Larry G.

It was a response to someone saying they think the stickers are stupid and people need to just KNOW what their vehicle can do. I took that as he did not think the stickers were needed.. Saying that people NEED the stickers becuase they cannot figure things out otherwise is what was meant. And I was not just saying this about CCC stickers.. Hence the lawyer stickers on EVERYTHING!

Well it certainly was not meant to offend you, I was just surprised that you just saw the sticker on a 2006 (I assumed you JUST saw it, guess I was wrong in ASSuming right?).

Some one alerted me to my mis quote. I should have quoted post 21 not post 24 but it is too late to edit. Sorry for the confusion and thanks for pointing it out.

The stickers should be taken with a grain of salt. The curb weight of my Silverado 1500 is listed as 5440 lbs. That is supposed to be with all fluids and fuel. I weighed the truck at a CAT scale and it came back 5918 lbs with me and a full tank of fuel. Now, I only weigh 230 lbs and subtracting that doesn't take it anywhere near the posted curb weight. It also leaves 248 lbs unaccounted for. The GVWR is 7200 lbs. Also, there isn't a GCWR figure (though the Chevrolet spec sheets for the model I have list it at 15,000 lbs and a maximum tow rating of 9100 lbs). The sticker said "Not Applicable". Now I wonder what THAT means???

None of the numbers add up to anything that makes any sense.

Hey Doc, we're good man. No bad blood here. I bought the truck used a few years ago. Noticed that sticker back then. Knew it had to bogus unless my truck came with a ton (well almost a ton ) of options that were now missing. One would expect (at least us older guys) that a 3/4 ton pickup would actually have a payload rating of 3/4 ton. I mean that's why they call them that right (or at least used too). My purpose for posting the pic was that I noticed elsewhere on this forum some always pointing to the sticker as being the answer to everything about what a particular truck can haul. My point: take them with a grain of salt.

If your GVWR is 7200 and your CAT weight is 5918 then you have 1282 of additional cargo carry capacity beyond whatever was in the truck at the time you weighed. A tow rating of 9100 is nice but with only 1282 ccc you probably need to watch your hitch weight and in particular be careful of any WDH you are using. Hensley's and Proprides perform great but they are heavy.

Exactly. Already accounted for in my calcs. I use a Husky WDH. The max tow is already down to 8920 lbs with a payload of 1068 lbs with DW, and our cats and their junk (litter box etc.). I reduced that 15% and get 7589 lbs. That is my self-imposed approximate tow limit. Current TT GVWR is 7650 lbs, so close enough. Tongue weight is estimated at 765 lbs. The trailer gets weighed with the truck either today or next weekend with our typical loading for camping to see what we have. Factory weight of trailer (no water) is 4410 lbs, so we'll see how accurate that number isn't!

Finally someone who sees it my way!!! Those stickers are stupid. I get what the stickers are suppose to be there for but none ever match up and you finally struck gold with your post to why my comment was made!
