I just traded in my 2011 Powerstroke mainly because it was 2wd and needed 4wd. Here are the issues I had after 59k miles. The EGR cooler was replaced under warranty as it was plugged. Was told by a couple mechanics not to idle any more than necessary. Brakes would warp (pedal bounce) under moderate braking in the mountains but returned normal after 10 minutes of no braking. Some first gear slippage began on starting uphill with 5r hooked up. I loved the truck power and driving other than these issues.

I ran my 2011 to 80K miles without a warranty claim. But I strictly follow the maintenance schedule. Most of these 6.7L issues involved poor maintenance practices. Ford figured that out and had Garrett over engineer the turbo for 2013-present. Haven't heard anything about the glow plugs.

Camper John, your comment about most issues being from lack of maintenance is bs. I am a fanatic about maintenance and crawled around my truck routinely. My truck was dealer maintained from day one to comply with warranty. I did not mention a few other things. The drivers side electric seat quit working in the first year, the drivers door speaker intermittently would not work and the transmission made a clicking noise from day one and Ford replaced the drive shaft to no avail so I lived with it as the factory would do no more. Maybe related to the first gear slippage. Not one of my issue was maintenance related.

My comment was not directed at any single vehicle or owner. I apologize if you took it that way. I have had Power Stroke diesels since 1999, new one every 2 years. My personal experience and what I witnessed through my years working on Fords support my statement about maintenance. My 1999 7.3L was by far the best, but I didn't have any major powertrain issues with any of them. I did have the speaker/seat issue on my 2013. It seems that the harness for the drivers door was improperly installed and chaffed causing a ground. But I can say by far the most common engine issue I saw with trucks in the shop was Air Filter replacement being over looked.

(2011 F250 XLT Power Stroke with 14,012 miles). That is very low miles. Why is my question. Could be owned by an older person. Very nice looking truck. Wish I'd found it when I was looking for mine. Congrats!!!!!!!!!

Good looking truck Keystone. Camper John said something I liked for I just found a steal on a 99 F250 7.3L with 120k miles that I couldn't turn down. It should be a wonderful upgrade from the F150. I should be able to haul the SS-550 with no problems.

That is what is was. Turns out that I might actually know the past owner. Not real well, but enough to know he takes such good care of everything that his used stuff looks new!

Keystone. That's an awesome truck for an awesome price. I don't know why people always have to bring up such negative things when a guy is so happy about finally getting an awesome tow rig. Stuff happens to all makes and models and that's why we all get warranties. Just enjoy and ignore all the negative.
