Bought an Equal-i-zer hitch system
After following the various threads on WD systems and towing/anti-sway, I purchased an Equal-i-zer WD hitch system this weekend for my TT. The 2 point chain system I have been relying on just isn't cutting it. I read the customer reviews on Equal-i-zer's website, which I took with a grain of salt because the company certainly is not going to post negative reviews, but it was the positive feedback I have read on this forum that swayed me (no pun intended!).
Haven't had a chance to install the system on my TT and TV yet but my friend is going to take care of that for me in the next couple of weeks. I had surgery on my right foot and am unsure how much camping I will be able to do this summer as driving is now an issue (I can't drive at present). I am looking forward to towing my TT hopefully without the usual white-knuckle, stress, tension, fear, etc. every time a semi passes me.
The Equal-i-zer will be going on my 2015 Rockwood Ultra-Lite 2608WS and my 1998 GMC Yukon. I won't be able to drive for another 5-6 weeks but am hoping for a more positive towing experience.

I switched from a trekker to equal-i-zer hitch. We've towed with it once so far and feel it has arrested some larger sway. We just ordered the lube, pins, and spring arm bushings as this hitch is pretty loud.

Take your time and follow the manual when settimg it up (pretty simple and straightforward) and you will be very happy with your purchase.
Love mine and have never had any issue or sway with it!

I changed to the Equalizer from the generic chain unit w clamp-on sway bar about 4 years ago.
It was a good move, I get little sway compared to before...

I have had the Equalizer 4pt for about 5 years, and am extremely happy with it. Yes it is noisy making turns and you will notice some drift when a trailer passes but nothing I would call sway. Good luck and get healthy.

A little Mobil 1 grease on the hitch solved the noise for me. It didn't seem to cause any sway by doing so. Mine has worked great! Last time I had lot of wind so there were a few moments that I puckered but nothing compared to towing without. Semis don't really affect me any longer. Do the bushings help a lot? When you say you ordered the pins scrub, are these diff than the ones that came with? Which ones if so and did it help?

Yes different socket pins that have the thumb clips. The original were the pin and clip I replaced them with the pin and thumb clip.

I was told to never use grease or lube on the bars no matter how loud they get. Mine are really loud at times when making turns but I can say that i have never had issues with semis or wind with this hitch. Is there a lube that is recommended for the noise that I don't know about?

The pin picture shows the original pins and the thumb clip pin. I also included the bracket jacket pic too. The lube I purchased was Equal-I-zer brand lube as well.

Equalizer has an answer for the noisy hitch - Equalizer Sway Bracket Jackets. They fit over the bracket and allow the weight distribution bars to slide over them without the annoying noise. If your local RV dealer doesn't have them, Google Equalizer jackets and you'll find several online sources for them. Eliminates the noise and doesn't affect the sway control. Don't use grease.

I've been using an Equal-i-zer hitch for 3 years now and I love it. Both sway control and weight distribution are excellent. It is somewhat noisy. However the noise can be reduced significantly by: - Buy a pair of "sway bracket jackets" from Equal-i-zer. These slip on over the L-brackets and the sway bars then rest on them.
- Grease the sway bar sockets as shown in the hitch manual. I use Equal-i-zer's grease, but I'm sure you can use most any similar grease. While you're at it, put a bit of grease on the hitch ball too.

This sway bracket jackets didn't do much for me in terms of reducing noise. But the Equilizer grease in the proper locations almost completely quieted the hitch. I used to break everyone's neck at the campground when turning.

mj0528, re the grease locations, I was referring to the following from the manual:

Thanks everyone for your input and ideas. My set came with the bracket jackets but I'll have to look at the parts again and see if the pin with thumb thing is in there or if I'll need to buy that. I know we will need grease so I'll Google that next and see where I can purchase it either locally or online. Probably online since I can't drive right now.
Loved the comment on how the grease reduced people "breaking their necks" in the campground. I'd rather leave that neck breaking and craning for when it is time to back in my site. We have all been there, done that, especially when someone is having a little um trouble, backing their rig in!
I am really looking forward to getting better and getting the hitch installed and taking the TT out for a spin to see how the hitch works.

Yes sir, those are the only spots I grease with the same that's in my grease gun (Mobil 1). Not sure if their grease is better. I need to find out how to keep the ball from sticking in the receiver hole. Grease doesn't seem to help

I've recently gotten a lot better at backing. Kinda look forward to it now. Backed in a spot totally dark last trip. Gotta teach the wife how to direct me better

Also grease the ball. That is where most of the noise is coming from.
