Brake control on Chevy/GM SUV

Hi all,

I signed the papers for a 2013 tahoe and need to move my Prodigy to it.

I cannot get the cover off the box that I plug my brake controller into. Not sure what it is called. It is like a junction box with lots of plug openings. It is behind the safety brake area on the left side.

It looks like the cover is installed using a barbed push pin. It is not bolted on like I expected. Any clue how it comes off? Is there a trick or do I have to cut it off?

I hope people can help me.

Thanks,

Vin.

If it is a push pin type you will have to pull the the center pin out a little to release it. Hope this helps.

I would have asked the dealer to move it over they would have taken care of it for nothing since you bought a new truck from them.

According to this youtube video from etrailer, you may already have the factory installed wiring for the brake controller like the Yukon, but you just have to find the wiring bundle underneath the dash and hook it up. I guess you can check to see if there is indeed a power wire located in the engine compartment by the fuse panel as the video implies, and if so, then you should indeed have the wires inside already.

Hope so, as that would be too easy.

EDIT: They show a 2011 Tahoe, the same way, but more detail where the wires may already be.

Yes,

I watched that video and have found the bundle of wires below the dash.

What I wanted to do was to buy the easier plug an play harness from etrailer so I could just plug it in. Just a bit easier than using connectors and shrink wrap. That is what I will do if I have to but was hoping to get access to the panel.

I will check the dealer when I show up and ask if they can do it. I just do not have much faith in salesman. They could surprise me. I am pretty handy but I have not come across such a thing before. It is like working with trim pieces. It is best to have an idea of what is holding it before you start yanking on it. lol.
