brake controller 06 Ford F150 (V8)

Pre-wired for 4-flat (not the round 7)...and looks like I might have a plug in under driver's side dash for brake controller?? Hoping to do this myself as the truck has 250,000+ miles on it. Want to drag the kid's horse trailer around. Just looking for a few more details as to what to do...thanks!

sounds like you don't have the factory tow package, which would include the 7-pin connector.
you'll need to duplicate it, including trans cooler.
take your VIN to a Ford dealer and they'll tell you the rear end ratio and if the truck had the factory package.

Check YouTube. I didn't install my controller, had an RV place do it, but after watching YouTube for my truck I could have done it myself. There is a plug for it in the existing wiring harness. Though my truck had the 7 pin outlet on the hitch from the factory. Sorry I don't have the answer myself, but YouTube is an awesome resource for stuff like this.

Are you going to put a horse in that trailer? If so, I'd really want to know what you are rated to tow, considering you obviously don't have the factory tow package with just a 4-flat connector. Running the VIN is a good start, although you could probably tell your tow rating just by browsing thru the owners manual.
