Brake Controller to fit 05 Ram 1500

I'm having issues finding a brake controller to fit my 05 Ram 1500 SLT. Here's a picture of the plug under the dash anyone seen a plug like this one? I have also included a link to a controller I was looking at. Thanks for the help!

TEKONSHA P3 BRAKE CONTROL + WIRING HARNESS FOR 95-09 DODGE RAM 1500 2500 3500 + DAKOTA, DURANGO & ASPEN. CONTROLLER + PLUG/PLAY WIRE KIT. : Amazon.com : Automotive

You sure that is the plug? On my 04 1500 and the 08 2500 the wiring harness was tied with a zip tie to the emergency brake cable right up against the firewall to the far left of the footwell. And it was a wiring pigtail with the plug on the end, the tie had to be cut to get the pigtail out where the adapter could be plugged into it. Both of my trucks had factory tow packages with the plug on the bumper and receiver, does yours? The plug in your pic almost looks like the OBDII plug.

FWIW, that P3 and harness is the exact stuff I used in my 04 and 08.

This was under the steering column sighlty to the left. As far as the towing package I'm not sure if it came with it or not, it was my father's and sadly he passed away so I couldn't ask.

Sorry for your loss. Does the truck have the 7 pin connector beside the license plate and the receiver under the bumber for the hitch to go into?

Thanks, no I've had to order the 7 pin connector and a receiver. Ball was on the bumper.

That is your OBD2 diagnostic port to check if a check engine light comes not for a trailer brake controller. There should another under the dash somewhere else. Check your owners manual to make sure your truck is prewired for one. If it is it will give a location to find the plug.

what he said. that is the OBD port.

On my 05 Ram the plug (which BTW is 4 pin) was way up the left side above the parking brake all the way to the firewall. I had to put my head under the brake pedal to see it. I also had to run the adjustable pedals all the way out to get my hand back there as the rack and motor for that system was in the way.

Note: unless you truck came with trailer tow group, the plug may not be there. You should check with the dealer on it, they can run your VIN to tell you what groups were installed. They can also sell you the pigtail, though Prodigy also sells a truck specific plug for all their products.

Alright thanks! the guy at O'Reilly's didn't know what he was talking about then. I have never installed one so I took him at his word he said it was the brake control plug but I started doubting it when I started looking around online.

I had a 99 Durango-----------

The 4 pin plug is all the way to the left, tye wrapped or taped to the emergency brake housing. As stated before, you have to stand on your head just about with a flashlight to see the plug.

I have the pigtail, you are welcome to it free if you pay the mailing.

Is this it? This was the only other unused plug I could find. It's right up next to the E brake housing.
