Mine I put on Max air, turn temp to full hot. By the time I go a mile I have hot air out of the dash.

I don't know what Ram and GM diesel trucks have but the Ford's diesel comes standard with the supplemental heater in Michigan. I know it's an option in the warmer states.

A 1500 watt zerostart convection coolant heater is a great and affordable block heater that I have installed in several of my diesels. The convection flow of coolant often was enough to defrost the front windshield and instant heat was nice. Only needed to be run for about 45minutes for it to work. Neighbor's loved the fact that my diesel was much quieter on a "cold' start than without the zerostart heater. Timing is advanced in many diesels when it is very cold out and that makes for some LOUD clatter!

Easy answer for a warm truck on a cold morning : remote start. Always have a toasty Ram...

First thing we added to the cummins was remote start. Push the button, drink the coffee then kiss DW bye, and she gets in a nice warm truck and off to work. I get in an ICE COLD work van. I really need to trade her jobs.

Ford is the only of the three that offers an electric supplemental cab heater. The GM twins elevate the idle and drag the torque converter to help the engine heat up faster but no electric heating element.

Block heaters and remote start also help, I have both. But neither can compete with an instant warm electric heating element in the HVAC system. Take it from someone who has all three...

My 2015 GMC has the instant elect. heatDr as an option. But my truck sits out most of the winter and by the time I am out of the driveway it is putting out heat. The heated seats and steering wheel really help.

I have remote start on my ram as well.

Needs to be plugged in.

I have also done a little mod to make the exhaust brake come on, during remote start.
If temp is low enough, it will also high idle on its own. 1100rpm.

I have the Ford with the Spplemental heater. Remote start as i get my jacket on brings the seat up to temp and have warm air when I leave the driveway. We have the highest electrical rates anywhere except the Artic. No way am I plugging it in unless I really have too. Like -20 C..

What does making the exhaust brake come on do?
