Is buying the trailer in FL an option? Buy it local, either tow it or have it delivered to where you want, and then maybe find a local storage facility for the off-season. The fuel savings from not towing back and forth would probably pay for a good part of the storage cost.

If you don't plan to use it in MI, this would give you the option to buy whatever size trailer you want.
x2 buying if Florida.

If you are not going to use the TT other than here in Fl. that would be a good alternative. Where are you staying in Fl? I can give you names of a couple of good dealers that you could order from if you don't want a 2014 that has been sitting on the lot for several months. One is a Rockwood Dealer and the other Flagstaff. Let me know and i can pm you the details

I have an 832IKBS that is supposed to come off the line 6-19 and did not even put a deposit on it. Dealer already ordered it for stock and we made the changes we wanted.

He does have an 831FLSS 2014 in stock. Here is the link:

You could also choose to leave it in FL for a couple winters and save up to upgrade your truck to a 3/4 ton to pull the larger trailer back to MI.

So, I am sure if you buy it local and after a short trip locally, you decide it is too much for you, a nice forum member might be willing to tow it to FL for ya!

Our last trailer was a Sunny Brook 267FL with a GVWR of 11300 lbs and a dry weight of 6400 lbs, we towed it many times to Florida from Southern Ontario, we used chevrolet avalanches, had two during the length of time we had the trailer, six years, the avalanche is just the same as your half ton, 5.3, 3.42 rear end, the trailer was a box but the avs towed it fine, you new it was there but that is so for all gas powered trucks. Buy the one you want you will be in no rush to get there so you don't need to worry about pushing the truck to it's limit, see you in Florida in the winter.

Wow there is some great folks on this forum lots of info and help thanks to all who have responded. I am going to cancel the deposit I currently have on the 831FlSS and do some more research. This is something we want to get right.
