Cargo Carrier on Fifth Wheel

I have a Forest River Signature Rockwood Lite Fifth Wheel 34'.
My wife and I would like to buy a mini golf cart (Cricket or something else).
Is it safe and feasible to put it on a cargo carrier on the back of the fifth wheel?
Any other suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Welcome to the forum, cbusmc.

I wouldn't try it. I have the same brand - Rockwood Signature Ultra Lite - although mine is a travel trailer not a 5th wheel. The "Ultra Lite" part means it has a very lightweight frame. The frame is made of steel plates welded together in an "I" shape ( not a standard rolled steel beam) and its not suitable for mounting anything heavy. If you really want to put something that heavy on a cargo carrier I'd suggest you go to a good welder or an Engineer to have them design something that can be welded to the frame and not negatively affect the frame. A heavier 5th wheel with good steel beam frame (look for the 45° angle on the bottom of the pass through compartment) would be a much better choice.

Don't even think about mounting something on the rear bumper.

EDIT: Doing that type of mod is guaranteed to void your frame warranty if that is still applicable.

A much better option is to have a 2" receiver hitch installed on the front of your truck. We did that when we owned a Rockwood 5th wheel and carried bicycles on it. Many U-Haul dealers install hitches.

It would be best to have at least a 3/4 ton pickup to carry that kind of weight up front.

Short box or long box? From what I've seen of those Crickets (Online pics only) it looks like you 'might' be able to fit one sideways in front of a 5th hitch in a long box. Their material says it's only 32" wide when folded.

If you can have a fab shop weld up a rack thats integrated into the 5th wheels frame and not relying on the bumper, then IMO you should have no problem.
What do they weight 300-350 lbs? Not all that much. Assuming your 5th pin is 20+% of the loaded 5er then you shouldn't see any towing difference.

I have short bed. Looking into front hitch. I'm almost 70 and can't lift it to get it into the truck.

My 2017 Rockwood Signature Ultra Lite 8299BS fifth wheel came with a cargo carrier on the back. I only use it for bicycles, but it seems pretty sturdy to me.

If you have some money to spare consider this option. It only puts about one-third of the weight on your trailer.

Yes 2500-5500$ for the Trailer, PLUS the Cost to Mod the Vehicle you wish to hook it to! Youroo!!
