Carrying capacity

It seems to me that the load capacity of trucks has been falling for some time. My 2004 Chevy 2500hd 4wd extended cab long bed has a total capacity of 2818 lbs. I am curious to know what the ratings of some other 3/4 ton trucks are?

Mine was 2286. Friend's F250 is 2112. Lots of variance. Those seem fairly representative numbers.

The more fancy stuff you put in the truck, the more you loose!

Then there was the Chevy '1500' with something like 12K towing capacity. I've seen others claim the 1500, 2500, 3500, whatever, has become nothing more than a model number. Nothing to do with capacities. I think that's true.

Ok.it looks like the load capacity is all over the charts but you can still get close to 3000 lbs if you are careful. Good, I was thinking I was going to have to keep my 2004 forever. Hum mmm... I still might. Good truck.

Mine's a gasser, remember. Make it a diesel and you drop 600-700 lbs off the payload.

Mine is a big block gasser. It weighs 15 lbs less than the diesel so that's not the only thing happening. I guess the next truck will be a 3500. 5er pin weights keep going up. My friends new 5er, a Forest River Silverback 29RE is 2 feet longer than my Flagstaff but has a gross weight of 14,500+-and a pin weight of 1,903 vs 9, 988 and 1, 300 for my flagstaff. I know these are all MFG numbers so don't flame me but the trend seems to be heavier pin weights which puts a lot of 2500s overweight.
