Wow, just had almost the exact same thing happen to my hitch last night. Luckily it happened in on my road while I was backing it into my driveway! Here are the pics. I see rust in the break that was pre-existing, as you can see the new, silver, fresh break vs. the oxidized rusted area that was exposed.

In email conversations with Equalizer now. It looks like they will be great and stand behind it. I'll let you know. [IMG]https://drive.google.com/open?

That's funny because Equalizer told me that they had never seen that before. I feel bad that I didn't report this to the National Highway Safety Commission. You might have been killed by something that they are covering up.

Who knows how many of these some person or machine welded incorrectly and they aren't taking care of it. They wanted mine back right away. I'm thinking that they just didn't want me hold on to it for legal reasons.

I've never seen this thread before, a nice reminder to do a through walk around regularly. We have a 10k equalizer hitch as well.

So most of y'all talk about Equalizer and Blue Ox but I just purchased a Curt TruTrack 15000# trailer weight, 1500# tongue weight 4 point hitch. I just ordered a B&W BWHDRH25230 direct bolt on replacement for the 10000#/1000# stock receiver on my truck. My new trailer has 930# of tongue weight with a dry trailer weight of 7500#. Anyone have issues with either of these products?

That's true because they emailed me today saying

"Sorry to hear about your hitch. We will definitely stand behind this. Sadie from our marketing sent us your pictures. When you get a min can you please answer some questions to help us figure out why this happened. We will also send you a return label to get that head back for our quality team to look at."

So just like the earlier post. There certainly anxious to send a return label and get their hitches back to inspect but it looks like it's still happening and this original post was from about 4 or 5 years ago. Do a search and you'll find at least 5 to 10 all cracking in the same places

We got the Equalizer because our Curt (non-TruTrack) hitch was loosing it's weight distribution function during our second season with it. The whole socket/pin setup for the trunion bars was just sloppy from new and of course the pins and sockets were wearing, even with regular greasing, causing the loss of weight distribution. It took months for a reply from Curt, but I had already given up at that point.

I don't have any of these.

But I can tell you that you should stop quoting dry weight numbers; they're just a marketing ploy by the manufacturers. Your TT will NEVER weigh those numbers.

Per Flagstaffs website, your TT's GVWR is about 8930 lbs, meaning tongue weight will end up being around 1071 lbs or more, PLUS the weight of your TruTrack.

Your 1500/15000 WDH will cover you. You don't say what the new receiver is good for, I'm assuming 1500/15000; if so, it should cover you also.

New receiver is rated at 16000# / 1600# TW. Reason I used the dry weight is that is just the starting point. I know it weighs more than that when loaded. I looked at two identical trailers and the only thing different I could see was color scheme on the interior. The one I have now lists on the VIN sticker is 7514 and the other listed 7622. Supposedly these are weights from the factory at the time of manufacture with full propane tanks. Why the 100 pound difference is beyond me. My biggest issue was trying to keep the weight under or at 8000#. The truck is rated to pull up to 10000# and I wanted to try and stay 15% - 20% below max. Buying a new hitch setup with the higher weight ratings seemed more logical than just going to the 12000# / 1200# TW one. I'd rather have more than just enough.

This is scary!. I do not know if I am lucky or 'stupid and lucky' or what. I have a WD hitch made in China and I bought it because it is mainly cast and not welded. I have had this for about 10 years. Here are a coulple of pictures. It is a Pro Series 10,000lb with 600lb bars and my trailer is 7,000lb gross.
