CCC discrepancies!
While double checking my water tank full load weight (266#), I noticed on the sticker it also said that total cargo including water should not exceed 694# (which to me is quite low). On the FR website chart the specs state CCC is 780#. Still low but but 86# difference.

Brochure or web site weights are a guideline at best. Cargo capacity is influenced by the options in your particular unit. The advertised CCC is likely the absolute base model. The only way to be 100% sure is to actually weigh your trailer.

ie....
Beef up your axles, tires (higher range), shackles/bolts....etc....
because if you put in a little water...food.... clothing... your 'overloaded'.

The difference is either the dealer installed batteries or options.
The website CCC number is for a basic version of the trailer.
The trailer's yellow sticker weight should give you a more accurate CCC amount.

Many people travel without water due to the weight and fill up at the campground.
You're going to find yourself putting things in your Explorer to save on weight in the trailer.
Unfortunately, these rvs vary widely in what you can carry. It's almost always less than you think in travel trailers.

Yeah, if all my tanks were full, that alone would overload my stickered CCC!
Trip this weekend we’re taking two vehicles so I won’t be overloaded We’ll be taking another adult & the 90# dog & a load of wood in the escort vehicle & any other extras. Water & electric hookups with dump station. I have to run back to town for a small job Saturday afternoon;(
FR website says UVW includes propane tank, not clear on the battery.

Is this your first camper??? Almost ALL campers are so-called over loaded by the sticker on the side of the unit. Legaleese for Do-not-put anything in unit or the manufacturer is not liable for anything. If you are so 'worried' about the weight and can not sleep at night. Park it and sell it and use motels. (I said that with a smile and did not mean it)
I have been camping in RVs for 40 years and they are ALL (by the stickers) were overloaded. Don't go crazy with too much stuff and keep your tires in good shape and have tire minders and go live the dream out on the road.....

Yup, first box camper. Had an Apache tent on wheels several years ago, ex got it in the divorce ;( I haul sport boats and a couple cargo box trailers full of band gear mostly.
It's my submarine training, anal-retentive about specs and tolerances.
Weight can be a BIG issue when you only want to submerge and not rapidly sink to the bottom, maybe tail first!
If I didn't have the drive back home to work on Saturday, we'd likely not take the high mpg escort vehicle along and all the extras it can handle.
Our initial trip we had no idea of the weights and took along a decent load of wood. 2nd trip was much further and we packed less but had our 145# grandson along. 3rd trip we packed a little less with more experience. That was when I finally weighed on the CAT scales and found I was still running a couple hundred pounds over on most everything, including the TT axle and TV rear axle. Tires were within spec if side to side loading was right. I'd probably be less concerned if I had a more capable TV, maybe next year.

As I said in post #4, batteries on towables are DEALER installed. Towables don't have factory batteries.
So battery, water, options and cargo all count towards the CCC amount.
That's the biggest problem with small TTs, low CCC numbers. They have to stay in that magic 3500lbs GVWR range so minivans and CUVs can tow them.

Just a comment on that last sentence. If that's precisely what it says, they mean an empty tank for what it's worth.

For his year trailer, full propane tanks are not counted in the CCC.
They are included in the factory UVW sticker.

This is the fine print under the specs from the web site
CCC (Cargo Carrying Capacity) ** – is the amount of weight available for fresh potable water, cargo, additional optional equipment and accessories. CCC is equal to GVWR minus UVW. Available CCC should accommodate fresh potable water (8.3 lbs per gallon). Before filling the fresh water tank, empty the black and gray tanks to provide for more cargo capacity.
**Estimated Average based on standard build optional equipment.
Each Forest River RV is weighed at the manufacturing facility prior to shipping. A label identifying the unloaded vehicle weight of the actual unit and the cargo carrying capacity is applied to every Forest River RV prior to leaving our facilities.
The load capacity of your unit is designated by weight, not by volume, so you cannot necessarily use all available space when loading your unit.

Except now the frame is the weak link. I’ve been there, done that with a buckled frame. Not looking forward to ever doing that again.

Change of plans. No escort vehicle, no extra adult, SIL hauling wood in his truck. Not sweating the CCC too much this time. Looking forward to camping with just SWMBO, dog, and daughter with her family. Think we'll be able to pull in facing each other.
The extra vehicle's better mpg is offset by the extra trip vice just using the TV for Saturday's work.
