Cedar Creek 36 CKTS tow vehicle

After the FROG Rally this year we've decided to upgrade to a Cedar Creek 36 CKTS. We are searching for a vehicle to tow it and have found a 2012 Ford F250 King Ranch, single axle, Power Stroke Turbo Diesel. Will this pull the Cedar Creek? The CC shows a pin weight of 2500# and a loaded weight of about 16,000 pounds.

I think it would pull it, but most likely going to be well over the trucks allowable pin weight. I think your in 1T range with that camper. Pin weight will most likely be in excess of 3000lbs once loaded. If you had the truck already, I'd say go for it. But since your in the market for a new truck, I'd look for a 1T.

I have a 2011 F250 CC diesel longbed RWD and I would not tow a fiver of that size. Your pin weigh, RAW and combined weight will be over the limits. I would have a dually one ton and up for a 16,000 lb fiver. Good Luck

A one ton truck would be the best solution however a dually is not needed. If 16000 is your loaded weight the single rear wheels are rated for around 17000 and more. Decide which vehicle you may want and check its maximum tow capacity.

Here are the towing capacities for the 2012 model year F-250's (from fleet.ford.com). Your payload capacity will almost certainly be your limiting factor though. You will need to get that off of your specific trucks "Truck Safety Compliance Certification Label". Whether or not to go over your weight ratings is a personal choice.

When looking at used trucks, make sure you pay attention to what wheels and tires are on it, as they could easily have been changed to something rated for less than the original.

I know it's a 2011 F250 but I doubt much changed.
IMO a 1 ton DRW.
