Changed trucks, need hitch adjustment

Hi all, I have a 2016 Rockwood 8312SS and when I bought it I had the Husky Centreline WDH set up for my Ram 1500. I have since bought a new Ram 2500 and it sits considerably higher. When talking to my dealer he suggested taking the trailer to someone who can lift the trailer by reversing the springs or adding a spacer??
Wouldn't I be better to just get a longer shank on the hitch itself so I can lower it that way?
Appreciate any comments!

I had the same issue when I moved up from a 1/2 ton to a 3/4 ton. I just used and adjustable shank and about an hour of setup and all is well. Much easier and less expensive than the other option.

When I got my 2500, I ordered a Curt 12" drop shank for the hitch. I used it twice and then got my fifth wheel.

Raising the trailer raises the center of gravity and possibly instability. I would try the other first.

I have the same issue. Just bought a 2017 f-250, and dropped hitch as low as it would go, but still a couple of inches too high. Husky WDH. Looking into a longer shank.

DITTO, RAM 1500 to a RAM 2500
Fastway WD e2hitch

Old shank didn't have enough adjustment so I ordered a longer one at the dealer.

When it came in, instead of picking it up I had the dealer install and adjust it along with a couple of other very minor things that had to be addressed.

We took a 5,000+ mile trip in June and the camper pulled flawlessly. It pulled so smoothly that most of the time you needed to be extra vigilant about remembering it was even back there behind the truck. I did have one problem with the hitch though, the right side trunnion bar (Trailer Bar) pad on the trailer frame did loosen up. I had to realign and tighten it up. Other than that everything went very smoothly.

I had basically the same issue with my initial setup. 4" drop shank that came with the Equal-I-zer wasn't enough for these SUV's with the receiver integrated into the frame/bumper. Etrailer.com had a longer drop shank for $75.

I did the same upgrade and have an e2 hitch. 12" drop draw bar on second lowest hole leveled my trailer.

Raising Trailer sounds like a labor intensive $$ project compared to buying shank replacement with enough length. Have someone with large torque wrench do install on shank bolts. Head tilt if applicable may be needed but this would have to be done in either option.

I went up from a 1 Gen Tundra to an F250 4x4 with a factory lift. I ordered a 10K drop shank on Amazon for $70. Problem solved.
