No OC magic "thingie" you thought of on the bottom or anything? Come on OC, you are like MacGyver I thought you would have had something special to keep it from sliding on any surface. Okay, cool. Thanks, maybe because it is heavier, although the Trailer Aid is pretty hefty also.

Coefficient of friction between wood and plastic is not magic.

Had 2 flats on a triple axle cargo trailer, same side, and used a 12ton bottle jack and 19.8V cordless craftsman impact wrench. What a life saver. Changed flats in 10 minutes. Hardest part was getting spares out of storage.

If you have a dual axle, just get the Trailer Aid. Works like a charm.

And...thank you Mr. Science! Just thought with all your ingenuity you probably had something special on the bottom of the wood ramps. I have thought and been wrong before...oh boy!

I wasn't trying to be snarky, I just haven't seen the need to add anything.

Could always make a 'shoe' with cleats that could slip on when needed....

I know you were not, I took it in the jest you intended. And hopefully you realized I was having fun right back. You always seem to have done something to camping gear to make it perform better, so I was just picking at you because you had not modified your Trailer Aid to "OC's Super Trailer Aid".

I was at a trailer shop that had Trailer Aids and ask if I could measure one and got permission to do so. Being the cheapskate that I am, went home and made my own. Mine is maybe 1" wider, I don't remember. Only used it one time to see if it worked on our concrete driveway and it did. It's been on the back bumper undisturbed for about 3 yrs now.

I usually remains totally cluttered. Have to leave TOWTA's old junker outside for any project of any size. I took 25 pictures of the contents for insurance purposes. Way too many to post here.

Yup! No gimmicky ramps for me. A basic bottle jack is all you need!

Dexter says to jack the trailer up from the frame of the trailer or damage to the axles or suspension system could occur. I suspect this is CYA. I've always used the axle close to or under the U clamps.

I read on another forum that someone said a dexter rep advised not to use the trailer aid as it could bend the axle. Maybe that's why they say not to jack from the suspension or axle?

It's a long way up to the frame. I guess one could block the bottle jack up with some 4 x 6's. I've been using a jack with a small strip of channel iron to distribute the weight a little. Haven't had any issues.

I do one of two things:

1. Call Coach Net to come out replace the tire.

2. Hit my six point level up and lift the tire off the ground, put jack stands under the the frame, and change tire.

What I won't do. Is put a bottle jack under the frame along side the highway with big trucks going by rocking the 5er and on uneven ground to change a tire.
