Diesel is a just option that cost less than 10,000.00 so why were they charging you 26,000.00 for option that cost less than 10,000.

Because that is what was on the lot, other then work trucks.

So I just configured a F250 on the Ford site, in order to get all the options that my truck has currently you have to add several "Equipment packages"

Camper Package
Chrome Package
FX4 Off road Package
Lariat Interior Package
5th Wheel Prep Package

With all that its still not clear if it has the backup camera or not...

So that configuration with the Powerstroke 6.7 Turbo equals $61,095.

Assuming you'll get it for $53,000 after tax, you're still at $20k difference.

So went and configured a truck with those options you listed and come to over 50,000 MSRP. Still adding the diesel options is still less than 10,000 to the MSRP of truck. I sat in front of the dealer with truck configured with gas and he added the diesel option and took off another 1,000 for adding diesel up the price about 7,500.

I'm looking at the config at $50k right now and its missing key features that I have in my truck today. At $50k your getting a glorified work truck. No backup camera, no power folding mirrors, no integrated trailer break controller.

Its not comparable to my truck at all.

It looks like on Ford's website, the diesel option is $8,480.

Sounds like you got great deal on truck. Here what I would do next time is negotiate a great deal like that on gas truck then tell the dealer to added diesel and he says 20,000 plus for the option I would walk out. Of coarse if your donít want diesel then it's mute point.

I'm looking at Chevy web site config like mine and it is over 50,000 without diesel. The MSRP are not that different between Chevy and Ford. Now Rams seem cost less.

There is no way there is 20,000 to 26,000 on truck config the same between Ford and Chevy. IF that was true Ford won't have a sales record like they do if people save 20,000 plus going Chevy. The 2500 crew cab base price is 37,960..

I went to NADA and looked at retail truck price for 2012 just like mine and adding the Diesel option added 8200 on to the retail price. I went back to 2000 and diesel option still added 3200 to truck similar to mine. Never going recoup all the cost of the diesel but just makes it like less painful.

My 2500 Ram has air bags at the rear. Once you are hitched with your RV just push the button and the truck will level itself correctly.
