Well after everything's input on what type of truck I should buy, I finally pulled the trigger yesterday. I bought a new 2015 Dodge Ram 2500 Diesel 4/door crewcab Big Horn.
I used the "TrueCars" web site where you print out a certificate of a few nearby dealers with the lowest possible price. It worked very well and I am very happy.
Now I can move on and purchase that trailer or 5th wheel.
Everyone in this forum helped me to make the right decision, thanks.

Feel better now that he bought the diesel? Guess our horrible "off topic" answers were just what he needed.

Yep his choice and pay more for service if he does not due his own. Could be $400 dollars a year. You folks never seem to factor those items in. It's called the rest of the story Later RJD

I think it wash when account for the better fuel mileage savings against higher cost of service.

Moot point since he made is purchase, but I have a 2011 Silverado 2500 HD gas with 4.10 rear, it towed my 13,000lb 36' 5er easy.
I've never had experienced the vibration issue others mentioned with Chevy...
Gas mileage isn't really a concern for me, my commute to work is only 5 miles each way.
I can personally vouch for the structural safety of the Chevy, I was in my father in laws 2500 HD backing in a trailer when we were hit by a drunk driver doing 45mph directly into the drivers side door. I walked away without a scratch. Drunk driver, not so much.
Anyways, congrats on your purchase and your soon to be 5er! Safe travels!

If you tow 4000 miles per year.
4000 miles gas towing divided by 8 gals per mile = 500 gals of fuel.
4000 miles diesel towing divided by 11 gals per mile = 363 gals of fuel
So the diesel with the better millage save 137 gals of fuel over gas towing.
Diesel can go longer between oil changes.
More than pays for the difference in services cost between gas and diesel that are about 40% more than gas. And that is the rest of the story...

Not to mention how much more pleasurable it is to tow with the gearing and torque of the diesel.
