Got the dually for a future fiver. The Duramax is amazing, could pull the house down. I drove a new 3/4 ton gasser at work, didn't like it. Only downside is the size but you get used to it. If I go to the grocery store with it I park way out but walking is good.

Got the 3500 Dooley with Duramax and Allison 6 speed in '06. Traded a 2500 gasser for it and wouldn't change a thing. Pulls our Cardinal just fine.

I have a 15 6.0 2500, in the mountains upstate ny she does it but more power would be great. Debating supercharger or trade for diesel.

I have had dually and single rear wheel trucks. The dually is much better when towing but much harder to use when not towing.
In addition to my 7000lb toy hauler I carry a 2000 lb slide in. Not at the same time. The slide in is top heavy feeling on my, 2006, 2500, Duramax. Getting around 15 mpg with the Lance, 825 on board. Enjoying the ease of getting around without towing and it’s Easier to find a spot to overnight too.
Been gone over a month now.
Dually don’t fit where a single wheel will. But are better on the highway providing the highway is wide enough.

Problem is no kuts for my yr. Tune is around 700, and i primarily run e85, so i would be tuned for e85 and no other grade. Only downfall to running a superxharger

Is it necessary to have the dually to tow what you have or want to purchase? Would a 1 ton SRW suffice, so DW doesn't think it ugly?
Also, in the GM trucks, years 11-16 the engine has a CP4 fuel pump. There are issues with them "grenading" and taking out the entire fuel system, Common Rails, Lines, Injectors, etc.
Personally Id look for a good clean low mileage LMM Duramax in the 07.5-10 year range.

The only two reasons I can see to get rid of yoru truck are:
1. The load you intend to pull exceeds your current vehicles capacity
2. It has so many miles you consider it unreliable
I have, as you can see, an 08 Duramax. It just turned 110,000 miles. I tow a 12,200 lb 5er. I see NO earthly reason to get another truck. I absolutely LOVE this thing.
The LMLs have issues with the CP4 and require DEF, the L5P is having its own issues and no way yet to delete the emissions. No Thanks, I will keep what I have!
Just my .02......and my opinion is worth what you had to pay for it *S*

I have no concerns with mileage I have 140,000 and have complete confidence in the truck. I am an ase master tech so also not worried about repairs. Sometimes I just want more umph. So it may come down to as stated before. Add some boost and be happy with what I have.

Hi,
I loved my 2001 LB7 (it was actually better in some ways than later years, but after GM did the injectors twice I knew the next set was going to be on me.) So now I have an 09 LMM SRW with 130k miles, and am very happy with the way it tows my Silverback. I am right at the limit for weight, but keep a close eye on how I load things.
As much as I think about a long wheelbase dually sometimes, it just wouldn't work for my day to day life in the suburbs.
FWIW.

HAHAHAHA Do I detect a modicum of Pride of Ownership here?
The LBZ is a GREAT engine, Better than the LMM because it has no DPF......BUT, I prefer the newer body style...........with the interior upgrades.
That is my only reason. And after deleting the DPF, same engine essentially.
There is NOTHING wrong with a good clean low mileage 06 or 07 LBZ!

Im the same Rich, a LWB DRW is just MUCH more truck than I want to drive around; and DW would be parking out in the S. 40 at the stores. My SWB 2500HD tows my camper well, is not over Gross and I see no reason to ever upgrade.
The cost of a new truck is well over 3 times what I paid for this current truck in Nov with 92,500 on the clock. I don't mind the maintenance and most I can do myself, which I enjoy.
So, my truck and I are in sync with one another....I maintain her, she doesn't let me down

It isn't often these chevy/GMC beasts let us down. One of the biggest advantages to the faster I can see is the repair costs and maintenance is way lower.
