and once I started looking Im thinking its somewhere around 5500lb any help please. The same truck with 5.3, 3.42 trans is 9500 is there just an HP difference or a frame/spring difference? im a little lost on this subject
you've been duped by marketing. when they say half-ton towable, they aren't talking about the grocery-getter trucks that are so common.
unfortunately, that's what you have. the anemic 4.8 along with a poor towing rear end ratio of 3.42 make for a poor towing machine.
that along with the heavier crew cab, really reduces your towing capability.
since you don't list what year yours is, according to Trailer Life towing guide, the 2009 4x4 Silverado CC 4.8 has a towing capacity of 5400lbs.
so, YEA, your trailer is way too much for your truck.
