Yes, the def tank is rated at 5 gallons. Usage will vary with engine load. 5,000 miles a tank sounds good.

I had a 2500hd with 6.0 and 6 speed and was towing a 40ft tow hauler that maxed out at 18,500 lbs fully loaded dry weight was 15,500. I had no trouble towing this 5er and was able to keep a even 45 mph going up the grape vine in so cal. I was getting 8 to 9 mph with that large load.

I own Chevy HD trucks all duramax. They cost a little more up front. But you will get it back and then some when you sell or trade.

My dmax got 14.8 pulling a 38ft 5th wheel with 3 Harleys loaded. 15800 lbs total. Gas 6.0 L would get maybe 10.0 pulling this.

My 3500HD mt 23 to 24 mpg tonneau makes a difference, Loaded I got driving from Mayer Az to mesa 17mpg. driving habits make a difference also.

Do you have a Duramax or is it the gas engine?
