Cruise Control
I am towing for the first time in 20 years and have a question about cruise control. I remember back in the 90’s my owners manual said not to use cruise control when towing. In my new truck manual it doesn’t mention anything about using cruise when towing. I was wondering if there would be an issue using cruise when travelling down the highway. I have a 2019 Dodge 3500 diesel DRW. My 5th wheel is 43’ with a GVW of 18000.

I use my every time I tow. I’ve pulled for 10s of thousands of miles and no issues. I even use it on long steep downgrades with assist from my diesel brakes.

Is it constantly shifting out of overdrive? My guess would be no.
The only time I don't use the cruise is if I'm towing with a vehicle that is constantly shifting down. Otherwise, I'll run the cruise.
Edit: I should clarify.. Only if it's downshifting to go up hills constantly and the REV's are getting really high. Downshifting to go down hills is a good thing.

I use it all the time! Set somewhere between 60-65 hauling my 42ft Crusader. Rides up and down hills with ease thanks to the 6.6 and exhaust braking. Can't see any reason not to. Enjoy and relax!!

X4 Your 6.7 CTD will pull that trailer all day in cruise control & not think twice about it! These newer trucks all have "smart engines & transmissions" and in tow/haul mode with engine brake engaged it will do everything possible to keep you rolling (and stopping) smoothly.
It may actually may come down to more of a comfort thing. Some drivers are not comfortable using cruise control when doing (towing) anything they're not completely comfortable or familiar with & prefer to "feel" everything manually.

I use it ALL the time especially since its adaptive cruise control. Makes driving way less tiring.

I use mine towing...BUT !!! it also depends on the road conditions. Heavy rain ? NO !, Foggy ? NO !, High Winds ? NO ! otherwise...it's "set it and forget it."

use it! and then adjust your speed as required using the up speed / down speed buttons. as somebody mentioned it will keep your speed at 65 as opposed to my foot that somehow keeps pushing further down on the accelerator.

Biggest thing with mine is if there are hills. It overshoots at the top and has to use the exhaust brake on the down hill. So I run hills manually. Otherwise. I use it all the time.

Unless the CC forces a downshift, I use it all the time.
