I think Ford has a new gas engine for next year. A 7.3
Liter for the super duty. If you can wait till then

Ford doesn’t have a good past on newly introduced engines. I fail to see a recommendation for the unknown.

It's just above ... where the guy recommends the 7.3. You'll see it if you look for it.

We have always been strictly Chevy drivers. Last September my husband talked me into a 2500 Ram(diesel). I love it, it is my daily driver. We still have a couple of Chevys. My husband's 2009 2500 Silverado still pulls our travel trailer without missing a beat.

The Ram has bigger axles, brakes, a better transmission and the list goes on. As for an Expidition it is just a half ton with a body. The problem with all those SUVs is the cargo you haul is always in the passenger compartment, including gas cans, trash or other items. They are not directly comparable. I don’t why you think he would like it better. He wasn’t asking about half tons, he wants to go bigger and that is a good choice and is the focus of his request. Which is 2018 or 2019. Not how you know how to drive you little truck.
Totally agree, like everybody else. What's this guy (aircommuter) thinking?!?

I own a 2015 RAM 2500 gasser with the 6.4 hemi. I have no problem pulling my 6500# boat no matter the terrain. It gets about 10 mpg but that motor is a beast.

Well I have drove more trucks, and more research, youtube, etc. I think I will wait until the new lines of HD trucks are on the lots from Ford, Ram and GM to look at those. May as well take advantage of any new features they may come with if I will have the truck for many years.

In the meantime, I have ordered a Propride hitch and upgraded my tires to Michelin LT Defenders. I have not towed with the tires yet, but they have made a big difference in just everyday driving and the bouncy/squishy feeling is reduced. We will go with this setup and see how it works this summer. According to basically everything I have read all over the place, this hitch and tire combo makes an F150 rock solid. So there is a high chance that we like it enough to keep it if it performs well.
