I have put 5 gallons of DEF in my F250 over 6900 miles ~~ 1800 of that was towing my 5er. Just topped it as had 2 - 3 qt left in 1 jug.

The Meter is in the dash. Push your data button on the dash while in park. It has it in %.

Not on a 2011 LT.....we just get the warnings at a 1000 miles, 200 miles, low quality, etc. I'm not sure if a 2011 LTZ had it or not.
We don't get "Regen alerts" either...well except for the smell and decreased fuel mileage!

One more thing to add: According to Ford service; in order for the gauge to reset when adding DEF, one must fill tank. Otherwise if just adding fluid, the system will not know how much it has.

I think that is only the case if you get the low DEF warning. 4 times mine has said less than half and I have just dumped in a jug and keep running. Not sure how full it gets but I am sure it does not top it off completely. Then I am good for a few thousand miles again.

My GMC says DEF tank level is OK until it gets down to 30%, then it reads out in percent until empty.

Yep. 30% and less then will start to count down miles when really low. Had that happen once with a faulty sensor. After the warranty work on the def crap, I deleted and retuned.

That is actually incorrect. There have been some owners that have reported they have filled up mid way and it never reset as well as some who have hit the 500 mileage warning and it didn't reset for several miles.
However, on my 2015, I wait till I get to about 200-225 miles left and on my 5.2 gallon tank, it takes roughly 4.75 gallons. When I pour it in, I leave my dash on and I see it jump right up and then go to "ok". There is no waiting and you don't have to fill it up to it to register that it is increasing in volume.

When my warning comes on I normally just dump in 2.5 gallon jug and resets. The only time I filler up is when I use the filler in the truck lanes.
