As cool as that truck will be, no way in hell would I tow 10k pounds with it full time.

I can't wait to see one though. It will be an awesome street truck.

You are absolutely right. 6 to 7 thousand would be a great plenty. And many of us towing 5 thousand pounds will hopefully find it more effortless. Our local (3 to 6 hours) trips are fine but the 3,000 mile round trip to the Rockies can feel like a struggle at times. The heat, long grades, and wind can be tough. We get there and the truck handles it; but there is a fatigue factor and a towing "satisfaction" factor on those long trips.

Going to the Ford "Special Invitation F-150 Round Up" tomorrow, invited by my dealer.
Go here and see if there is one coming to a town near you!

www.driveF150.com

They have the 2011's with the 4 new engines and apparently they are going to let us drive them in different scenarios, towing, acceleration, etc.
Should be fun, went last year when they were promoting the Raptor, was a good time.
Ford puts out a good spread, stuff for the kids, lots of food and drink.

Dodge - 2010 Ram 1500 - Capability - Powertrain

According to the Dodge site that is 407 lbs of torque; and at 4,000 RPM. At 1,700 RPM it looks to be about 330 lbs on the chart. Scroll down to the chart in the link below to see a torque chart for all brands.

2011 Ford F-150 EcoBoost V-6 Photos and Additional Engine Details - PickupTrucks.com News

So, as I originally posted, let's not turn this into brand wars. I'm just making the point that the ecoboost is a real torque monster for a gasser; especially in the lower RPM ranges where it counts. It may even be competitive with the 6 liter (non-diesel) V-8s at these lower RPMs. It would be interesting to see those charts. But I typically don't tow at 4,000 RPM so I think these torque curves are important.

Peace!

Wink

Its cool acadianbob, you talk about Ford trucks in a Ford titled thread and every "other" owner will show up and throw their two cents in... Me personally, I see a thread title with GMC or Dodge-it I dont even click on it. I am 6' 6" tall, you would not believe how many little guys will come up to you when you are this height wanting to show you had bad they are, I have learned to ignore them in my 40 years.... Ford must feel the same way....

My brother is now retired from FMC after some 35ish years there. He would tell no one where he worked because they automatically wanted to tell him how awful their Ford was. Alternately he told people he pumped gas at the convenience store or was a purchasing agent somewhere.
Makes buying a Ford easy and cheap for me tho.
