Yep! The newer fuel is crap compared to the older pre 2007 blends and the newer style injectors are much more sensitive to contaminants, ect.

If you are buying quality fuel from a reputable supplier there is no need to run or use any type of fuel additive. I have run many of the newer diesel trucks as I average 60k plus miles a year. My current 2015 has not had any issues at all even in Northern winters. Most fuel system issues arise from contaminates and "other products" added to fuel system. This is even true in off highway applications that are out now as well which I deal with everyday.

I have a 2013 F-350. If I recall, the diesel supplement states additives are not necessary. I would hate to have a failure and have Ford blame it on an additive & possibly void the warranty.

Just say'n

The diesel supplement does say you can use additives. Either a cetane booster or anti-gel if needed, and to use a Motorcraft product or equivalent.

I'll offer my .02 as a diesel mechanic/fleet manager for almost 30 years. Fuel quality and truck use varies greatly. We run Stanadyne fuel treatment and Motorcraft cetane booster. Their are other reputable brands. I've seen enough stuck turbos, injectors and clogged egr systems to know they help. Big rigs don't work like city trucks and if your fortunate enough to get a new truck every four years you can get by without them.

The only reason I purchased the Ram was that the engine was manufactured by Cummins. It was either a Cummins or a Caterpillar diesel engine I was looking for. But in no way shape or form would I every purchase a IH (early Powerstroke) Ford, IVECO and or Duramax diesel engine. I have spent forty + years in the engineering/designing business with heavy equipment, so I know what engine to use and not to use for reliability.

The Cummins is a FANTASTIC motor!!! It's everything else around it that is the problem...

Power Service. They make a full line of diesel fuel products. Been in business since trucking company1957. Family owned. Back in late 80's early 90's I was fleet mgr. for a small trucking company and we used Power Service to take care of our fuel related problems. NOT SMAKE OIL like some diesel fuel additives.
