That's where it gets too muddy...you have light half ton, medium half ton, HD half ton, etc...just need to keep trucks in their respective category & then the consumer can/will buy the right truck in the category they need to do the job at hand.

I do have pics, where would I post them? My layout was featured in. The Milwaukee Railroader (Milwaukee Road Historical Association) last year in the 2nd quarter. Check out my You Tube channel: cthsemilw

1/2 ton diesel

The problem I see with the ever increasing towing capacity of half tons is that people ignore the tongue/pin weight or the payload of the truck. Take the F150 ecoboost for example. That truck can be rated for something like 11300lbs but has a payload of around 2800lbs for a four wheel drive (which is what most drive around here). The pin weight of a 11000lb FW is going to run around 2200lbs. That leaves 600lbs for people, hitch and additional payload. Not to mention my last truck had a listed payload of like 3500lbs but the truck weighed in 1000lbs over the listed curb weight (there goes 1000lbs of payload). So, if they are going to keep making these trucks able to pull more, they need to make them carry more.........hence the reason for a 3/4 ton or 1 ton truck. I agree with the previous post. If you want to tow more weight, get a truck built to do it. Now, if they throw in a diesel just for performance reasons (better fuel mileage when compared to gas and all around pulling power) and keep the tow limits within reason, then that's ok! But right now, many fifth wheels which state to be "half ton towable" are really NOT! I'm buying a Wildcat 312bhx which weights 9300lbs and will be towing it with a truck rated for 16000lbs and of which has a payload of around 4000lbs! I'm hoping for great mileage as compared to my last gas truck!

Will do. Give me some time to go through things. I'll try and find ones that were taken after I made changes this past winter.
