Thanks everyone. Didn’t close the deal on the Chevy, but learned a lot from y’all.

So, it can happen.
Your decision but I am sure glad I bought the extended warranty.
if it was a 6.0 powerstrokehelp of course it will blow up. that engine is a failed story. you needed to bulletproof with upgrades.
he has a duramax and as long he changes the oil every 3k he should be fine. also dont expect that the nox sonsors or particalint or filter or any emissions will be covered. i found out the hard way on my Chevy cruze diesel. i ised a scan tool it sold me what sensor i needed i bought one from rock auto and installed it issue fixed. i have 250k on my chevy diesel no issue. and 165k on my excursion 7.3 diesel no issue. ex warranty is a waste of money.

On my 2008 Dodge with the 6.7L Cummins and at 118,000 miles, I have put in ZERRO Dollars into the engine as far as repair cost. I am running 60 HP over stock at the rear axle with a tuner. Same with the transmission, transfer case and differentials no warranty repairs at all. I have had to replace ball joints, drag link, front u-joints, steering damper and shocks.

So, an extended warranty on a Cummins engine would be a waste of money in my humble opinion.

Well, here I am almost a year later, and I finally got a truck. Ended up in a new one, so I’ve got some time to think about an extended warranty.

What truck model and engine did you purchase?

I ended up in a ‘19 Chevy 2500HD with the Duramax/Allison. I actually went and drove another used, low mileage truck, but it just wasn’t as slick as I wanted. The dealer texted me an offer on a new one the next morning that made it hard not to consider.

Would an extended warranty be void with the tuner?
