Diesel Prices

Just stopped at a Pilot in Newburgh NY... Diesel price 3.67 a gallon. Across the street Mobil at 3.20 and Cumberland farms a quarter mile away at 3.19... Anyone else notice that the Pilot Flying J are quite a bit higher priced on Diesel than the competing stations... I guess they figure that truckers have to come into them so they can keep the prices high... I don't mind a couple of cents or even a nickel more, but almost a half a buck makes a big difference....

And not only that...........but they charge about 5-8 cents per gallon more IF you use a credit card! Not on gasoline, just on diesel.

Why? Because they can.

$2.59 in Chattanooga a while back...

if you depend on truck stops to fuel up, you'll most likely ALWAYS way overpay versus diesel at regular stations... but, those big rigs most likely DON'T pay the advertised price, but have a bid/set price with the company that they work with/for who has a deal with the truck stop(s)... only us 'retail' buyers pay the price advertised, which is typically way too high.

Just the other day, going down I75 thru Georgia, a brand new Loves truck stop advertised their 'great' price of 3.10... while just one easy exit down, every fuel station on the exit there were priced at 2.75 or better.
While some RVrs will always prefer to use the 'easier' truck stop lanes, which I've always found to be loud, smelly, dirty, grimy, and ridiculous due to their lack of ability to 'pay at the pump' with your credit card, using standard fuel stations when the prices are this disperse, in this situation, can save almost $18 on a simple 50gal fill up.

The few times I've had the 'pleasure' of using a truck stop diesel lane, the experience was less than endearing. Our 35' coach and 15'-20' extra for the toad vehicle have few issues ever getting into any standard fuel station, even the 'tight' MURPHY stations in w*mt parking lots.

You can guess at finding good prices, complain about high prices, or the differences, or just get a great app like GasBuddy while shows you the prices where ever you are traveling, traveling to, or where you have plans on fueling up - many times I stop early simply because the pricing for a particular station, or area of stations, like OOLTEWAH, TN, can save me a ton even though I might have been able to travel a much longer way before 'needing' to refuel.

we were must in califonia. most diesel was over $4.00/gal though we did find a couple of stations at $3.97. the local station here in town (arizona) advertises $3.05 with an $.08/gal rebate if you are a non commercial user.

I only travel about 300 miles per day and after I park for the night I use Gas Buddy to find the low cost diesel nearby.

It's around $2.84/gal in North Georgia. Some places are around $3.00. I really noticed a difference at some areas when travelling from state to state.

Diesel Prices

When we were in MB just recently that Walmart posted $2.489 for diesel. I went the next day to fill up and it was $2.669. It was a Saturday so I guess they bumped it up for the weekend. Made a big difference as I put in 45.5 gallons[emoji35]

I can get it for $2.74/gal at our cabin in MO and I get it locally for $2.89. Guess I look at it this way....right now...it's cheaper than most of the regular gas....at least in my area it is.

Diesel in this area just jumped 25 cents to an average of $3. But it does that most every summer.

$2.90-$3.00 is the standard price around where I live. The truck stops (Pilot, Flying J) seem to be another $0.10 higher. Can get about $0.05 off that if you’re diligent about using Gas Buddy (or equivalent).

Attached is a pink unicorn I found last week. I’m not posting because this is normal in any way. Just an oddity that I hadn’t seen in a very long time.

$2.59 in Cedar Park Tx this evening. Put $100 worth in the F-350 and it was still not quite full.
