Do weight distribution bars need to sit level on the brackets?

Lower the bars a notch and add a couple washers when you can. One washer equals one notch.

I had a similar issue, i have an F150 and am using the equalizer hitch to tow our 312 qbud TT. It took me several attempts to figure out the proper set up, the dealer did not properly follow instructions when they hitched me up originally. After numerous attempts and having the bars point upward like yours currently do I removed everything and started from scratch. I added 3 additional washers and readjusted my height of my ball. This fixed everything for me, I did an 800 mile round trip and had no issues. Good luck!

Have you contacted Equal-i-zer tech support?
They have some of the best support in the RV business.

Thanks all. Manual doesn't specifically state that the torsion bars MUST be level, and indicates that if you reach max spacers to bring the bars up, but I'll put the brackets back down and check how many spacers there are. It sure does look like having the bars run uphill would lead to increased wear.

If I can add another spacer, I will. If not, it isn't horrible. It's just when loaded with water it could be better.

The Equal-i-zer uses friction to achieve sway control. If the surfaces of the L bracket and bar aren’t parallel you’ll have less friction and thus less sway control, so try to get them parallel.

Here is my set up. Coachmen Freedom Express 291 Ford F-150. Leveled trailer at frame front to back. Measured trailer hitch height (22"), set head angle with 5 washers, set hitch ball height at 22". Un-hitched, front of truck at 36" back at 38". Hitched no weight distribution front 36 1/2" back at 35". With weight distribution front at 36" back at 36" bars level. I have 14000# bars. Additionally, trailer lower 1" at front from original level. Hope this helps.

I am at max number of washers and to get my measurements right my bars are a little angled up like yours. Now what everyone is saying is correct. You will get wear, it makes a little bit more noise (I added the plastic pads). My brackets over time have also tilted back a few degrees to match that slight upward tilt. I also believe with the 1000 lbs bars and a 1000 lbs tongue weight that contributes to the issue. My trailer tows fine, I had it on a Suburban and now a 2500HD truck. If I had continued with a 1/2 ton tow vehicle, I would have upgraded the bars to 1200. I still may do that but behind a 2500HD I don't get any sway with the current set up and the weight is distributed per the setup video.
