Yeah running with the exhaust brake on consistently does seem to be the best thing for that 6.7.But whatever diesel you go with they outshine their gas cousins twice over in the towing department. My mileage almost doubled towing this fiver and actually I had gotten rid of my Hemi, before getting the Crusader,so even if it could have,it was 1/2 ton(NO WAY)the mileage easily would have been below 7mpg which is what I was getting towing my Starcraft 28ft TT.Once you drink the Diesel Koolaid you"ll never go back!!

I have a 2007, 6.7, crew cab. The only trouble I have had is the 02 censor going out or sooting up as the dealer said. He asked me how I drove it and I told him I'm easy on my vehicles. He said " you need to drive the hell out of them and don't baby the truck". Ever since no problems. I get 20 to 22 hwy. and towing I get 11 mpg pulling about 8500 lbs. Great truck.

If your going to baby it and give it a high diet of town driving, forget any of the newer diesels. Get a,5.9 instead. If your going to drive it a lot, them a 6.7 is a great package. My 4.10 rear ended dually gets 11.5 towing 14K and 18.6 non towing.
BTW 6 vs8 is pretty simple to figure out. 6/8 equals 3/4 in my book, so the real answer is 25% fewer parts.

I wouldn't be using the truck for much around town driving maybe once or twice a week. But I would be using to go back and forth to work during winter months but is mostly highway. I still don't know what I will do, good thing I still have 6 months or so before I will be getting serious. Hopefully I will have my mind made up by then.

Met this guy on my travels south,he's the one on the right. He had I believe over 500,000 on the odo.Older guy, probably retired OTR trucker. He delivers these things all over. It's an'09.As I recall only issue he had was the water pump as well.

Dodge 6.7 owner

I've towed with a '99' automatic and '03' 6 speed manual 5.9 with no issues but wanted a little more. I purchased a 2010 automatic 6.7 3500, single wheel crew cab 35K miles ago and have no complaints at all! The tow/haul mode and exhaust brake are a very good match in the mountains. I tow a 2006 Cardinal 33 TSLE and a motorcycle and it's like driving a car. The 6.7 is not as good on fuel but the differences are worth it!
