Knowing little about your setup but knowing I pulled a 9500# trailer very successfully with a 14 ram 1500, I'd say start with new shocks first.

Airbag will just make your ride harder AKA suspension travel I agree shocks should do more to control the suspension travel that you do have but air pressure in the tires placement of your load tongue weight truck weight trailer weight and the highway are you're on have a big impact to

Describe your situation and scenario when you have a bounce. I live in Seattle and I I-5 has Expansion Joints that are just epic pain with the wheelbase and trailer that used to have when driving empty. It literally would make you sick

Does your trailer have socks

Ok is your 3500 short bed or long bed, does it have helper springs (HD) or just one spring pack on each side in the rear. 4x4 or 2 Wheel drive ?

Airbags with 5 - 15 psi of air can sometimes make a noticeable difference but it all depends on the general setup, where the bounce is coming from and how much weight the truck is carrying. If it's for/aft jerking that's being transferred from the trailer axles than they won't do anything.
Now, if the trailer bounces up and down there is a fix for that. I'm having my eyes on a set of these but there is not much owner/user feedback out there https://www.etrailer.com/Trailer-Sus...LC1565391.html

I have a 2005 3500 DRW and I believe that the original owner tried to help the ride buy removing the helpers taking several springs out of the spring pack, and adding air bags.

Personally I believe that was a mistake. I put the rear springs back to standard HD (I think), I did leave the air bags on. I mainly only get bounce at bridge joints but I believe part of it is due to the factory helpers and the crappy roads. But I do still get some bounce depending on the road.

Not knowing your past experience any truck pulling a trailer will give you some bounce. If you are expecting a car ride it will not happen.

Air bags do not hurt but I do not think that it will totally eliminate your problem.

Good Luck !
