As far as the older stuff, I was a Ford 7.3 PSD guy (2003) then I had the usual 6.0 issues and skipped the 6.4 altogether and then went with an 03 Cummins. Great truck but at 98K the tranny took a dump and I did take it easy on it and used gauges. then a 2010 Dodge and it was great but even deleted, the milage sucked.... 11 in town and 15 unloaded on the highway and then about 10-10.5 towing about 9K.

Now, in the realm of newer stuff, it has been the GM stuff. The Duramax/Allison combo is hard to beat. 15.5 in town, 18 unloaded, and 12 towing 12K.

I agree. I looked real hard at capabilities and Ford just had more to offer. They all have to be repaired. Towing is hard on any truck no matter what. My Ford F150 has amazed me in how much it can tow and do. I would look Ford then Chevy and never Dodge. I just cannot afford the transmissions to be replaced like they do.

Heat kills trannys so watch the tranny temp with a good gauge. A tranny will still only last so long. 134,000 on my tranny now Ford 4R100 tranny.

Ehh, why replace the transmission? When the lines let go and spew fluid all over the exhaust, just have insurance replace whatevers left.

Though I like the ford's too, I'd probably be back in a Ram. Why? Simple. Both grandpa's worked for Chrysler so I get the employee pricing.

Without that, I'd probably be looking harder at the fords. The one time I took one for test drive it seemed like a nicer ride. Of course now that we're into trailering, I'd have to re-evaluate all my criteria factoring that in. When I first bought I was looking at something usable with 2 small kids so the Rambox won out. (You can fit an umbrella stroller in each!)

If you have ever visited a few of the Ford, GM, or Ram sites you’ll always find a good number of folks who are pissed off at the truck they bought and they are going to sell that one and buy a different brand.

Not sure but do the Ram guys buy GM’s and they buy Fords and they buy Rams? Is this the circle of life of a truck buyer? Does it change yearly or maybe............................ daily?

The grass is always greener..................
