Had fords whole life Granada ranchero 91 f150 super cab 2001 supercrew. Bought a 2011 ram hemi more power than I ever had tows like there's nothing hitched up and not towing gets decent mileage for a full crew cab truck. Fords were out of my price range didn't want to buy the ram but glad I did. My dw likes gm she drives a suburban. I don't like chevy and they don't like me. Lol

I think it depends on how much you are pulling. We got a great deal on a Ford F-150 STX Super cab. Just got 11mpg on the last 170 mile trip. It pulled my 7000+ lb 2703ws perfectly.

Rockwood 2703ws
Ford f-150 5.0

Ford is my Truck of choice

Bought a 2011 F-150 Platinum Ecoboost to pull my new Flagstaff this season. We put it to work pretty early by taking a trip to Disney in June. It pulled the new trailer very comfortably. We also travel frequently with two other families that use Fords as their tow vehicles. So you can see where this is going. I almost bought a Dodge a couple of years ago but the dealership was not very upfront about the price and rebates. It left a bad taste in my mouth. Chevy was never an option. Too many friends with too many problems. So i'm a Ford guy. Mustangs and F-150's is my lot in life. Could be worse I guess. My last point is this. When your out camping look around at the other tow vehicles. It seems to me that Ford outnumbers Dodge and Chevy 2-1.

This could go on forever. The point I was making was don't discount any of of them. They all make a decent product. You can go online and find an article that says this ones the best or that one is ultimately it's up to the individual. There are horror stories about every brand. Yea yea I know my truck is great your brand left me stranded. They all do they're mechanical. Do your research in weights, towing or whatever your looking for find your best deal and buy that truck. All we can offer is our opinions which don't mean squat if you get a vehicle with issues. Then it's they said it was a good vehicle but mine stinks. Go to dealerships test drive the hell out of whatever vehicle you choose then make your decision. Wow early morning rant I gotta get coffee. Good luck

If your buying a real truck to tow with and no I don't consider a 1/2 ton a tow vehicle, then any 1 ton diesel will get the job done about as good as the other. Your not buying it for fuel savings your buying it to move 20,000 lbs. safely down the road to your favorite campsite. The trick is getting one that was put together properly and I can say the same for the RV industry. I like my Ford but I'm sure I'd like a Chevy or Dodge just as well. The fanciest truck I ever road in was a Dodge.
