I think I'll spring for a 3500 HD SRW this time... less than $ 1000.00 DIFF. IMHO well worth it... same ride, same comfort and a little more capacity.
Been thinkin about the 3500hd srw as well.

The owner of the property owns most of the oil drilling operations in the area.
He has the equip to pull anything out of anywhere.

Getting up the hill on my own was a real rush though. Gave me a reason to pound on my chest!
However it also showed me that I need to get some more aggressive tread on the truck. Heck, like I need a reason...

We just bought an 07 Chevy silverado 3500HD DRW LTS (diesel) to pull our new XLR Thunderbolt 5th wheel toy hauler. It is our first diesel, our first 5the wheeler and first toy hauler! We chose the 07 because and newer because it has the ability to change out the glow plug on an individual basis. We just added the EDGE Revolution Controller which will allow us to change engine programming for power and engine braking capability. It's a beautiful truck and only had 71,000 miles. So we saved lots of money and have a truck to last several years!

Good luck on what you pick out!!

What year in the duramax did they start the regen and def?
Regen only till 08 or 09 ? 10 has both?

I was told the 09 or 10 will run circles around 08's and older?

Dpf - 2007.5
Def- 2011 along with new frame and chassis parts and redesigned ft bumper on chevy.

08-10 should all be same gen motor, sometimes there is an update on program- but you can usually update the older in the same gen. as well. You would just have to have someone at the dealership check to see if there are any updates available.

Not sure exactly. Mainly little things I think. I did one on my truck and I couldn't tell a difference. Of course the 6.4 that ford had, they had to update to change the regen so it wouldn't do it at idle- the trucks had fire out the tailpipe problems.

ahhh... cleaner emissions. instead of breathing soot, now you can breathe all the plastic and rubber as it melts to the ground

isnt life grand in our new and enlightened times?

Well I finally found the truck I was looking for Thursday!
Called the dealer on Friday and said I'd be there Saturday morning when they opened to try and make a deal.

Saturday morning "yesterday" the dw and I trek the hour drive only to find out that the unit was sold the night before with out his knowledge.
But hey he had a similar unit for 10, 000 dollars more! And they will even give me a thousand less for mine to trade!

After spending the better part of the day there looking at truck after truck I was left to trek the hour home with nothing more than what I came with.
On goes the search
