I don't have one but my neighbor does and he seems to really like it. He doesn't pull anything heavy yet just a small enclosed trailer.
I know why your asking. Just buy one.

i've been looking for a few mo. now and I really cant decide between a 6.0 gasser and the 6.6 diesel being a $9,000.00 option !
I have been beating my head deciding options !!!
The single most hardest part IS already taken care of !

Well I am sure you know what engine will pull better guess its all just if you can justify that price difference and owning a diesel. For my personal I couldn't justify a diesel for only camping 4-5 months out of the year and I am a weekend warrior. I currently have a Nissan Titan that I really like but will be getting a beefier Toyota tundra. I don't ever pull anything else through of the year and use my truck all winter to go ice fishing. If you don't need a diesel for the rest of the year and you know the 6.0 will do what you need then get that. And who knows what these fuel prices are gonna do after the presidential election.

I know the 6.0 will get the job done as thats what I have now (05) (20000 miles) uses no oil in 7000 miles but if I am going to haul this sabre longer distances in the next few years I want to consider the diesel .

Everybody says once you get a diesel you will not be disappointed. I am just not ready for one yet. And if you will be going the long distances a diesel sure would be nice makes things easier. Doesn't your 05 have a 4 speed tranny. And the new 6.0 come with a 6 speed I am sure that would also make things easier on long distance trips. My Titan has a 5 speed but I know the six speed in a tundra will be much better. You do have a tough decision.

yes the 05 has a 4 speed and the new one is 6 speed with manual selection if desired.

Ya my work truck is an 08 2500hd with the same setup. Haven't towed anything to heavy but it does well.

Biggest mistake I made was not getting the diesel in my previous 2009 GMC 6.0 2500HD...besides the MPG's sucking wind, the first time I hit a short stretch of 6% grade towing 9500lbs, I was sick on how bad the truck was handling. I "hated" giving up the GMC, it had all the extras...just missing the diesel!
I owned it outright, sold it, bought a great conditioned 2005 Chevy (didn't go to 2007 or better as I didn't want all the emission junk and so forth) tow just under 12K loaded, awesome power, great MPG's and tranny barely shifts out of gear climbing hills. With a few simple mods, truck at 700 ft/lb torque (605 stock), can't tell much of a difference driving friends newer diesels except they do have better technology and bling!
Made no sense in planning our " weekend warrior" trips solely on flat land...6.0 gasser generates all the spec torque at 4500rpm, truck sounds like a blender, just not right!
In short, get the diesel...you won't second guess yourself on he purchase after the first long trip

I can't comment on a 2013, as I have a 2008 Duramax but I really like it for pulling. Mine is a Crew Cab LTZ. I know the $9k difference is hard on the pocket. I bought a used one instead of new mainly for that reason. I added a Hellwig sway bar onthe rear, pretty much eliminated body roll. I also added a FASS fuel sytem, I plan on keeping this truck a long time and that was the first thing I put on it. The dealer wants $130 to change the fuel filter and it is a real pain to get to. 2 more fuel filter changes and it will have paid for itself. I use Fleetgard filters at $9 ea and can change the filter is about 10 minutes. The only real downside I have is the diesel noise when ordering at the drive thru.

Turbs, I work at a gm dealer and I'm pretty sure the '13s are the same as the '11s on up w/ new frame, def, axles and drive train. I don't think there is a new generation on the 6.6 yet, but I will check. There will be a new body for '14 but I don't know if it will be a little longer on the hds like there usually is or not.
The diesels are pretty sweet though and they hold their value pretty well as I'm sure you know.
The 6 speed seems a little more slugish taking off than the 5 speeds but I believe that is because of the ratio difference, and the more gears the better for staying in the power band when pulling. You will love it and better mpg's that pre-def, dpf duramaxs.
---rumor has it gm is coming out w/ medium duties (4500, 5500) soon, but I can't confirm it yet.

Wish I had a diesel in my avalanche, I had a 6.6 for a while but I hate the ride the pick-up gives when not towing.

If you like bling, Chevy has a version claiming out in 2014 called the "High Country". My dealer says he already has me pegged for one. But I don't know if it will be available on the 2500. I'm guessing yes since he knows he sold me the 2011 2500...

Had an 06 6.0l 2500 CC 4x4, was a good truck, but hated the lack of power while pulling. Traded for the '11 Duramax, and very pleased with it. Get the longbed.

I love mine. I think the '11s are under-rated and will carry and tow much higher than advertised. The rear end on the 4x4 is pretty stiff because of the heavy springs. The LTZ package is quite nice, but lesser equip than in suburban & Tahoe. The Nav definitely could use an update. I would expect the '14s to be an upgrade of body panels and trim work only. The frame and drivetrain in these is very strong an still competitive with dodge and ford.
