They had to replace my left catalytic converter on my 2012 at about 25k miles. There is a TSB that covers this. It has something to do with the cc being too efficient and causing moisture problems. Part of the TSB blocks off airflow to a portion of the cc. Don't quote me on this, I'm working from memory (working without tools).

You are getting 13.5 mpg towing with the 3.5 eco-boost? At what speed 45 mph? Something not right!

According to his signature onetoneford has this 2001 Ford F-350 DRW 7.3, so I am guessing a diesel. I think he was making a point about the comment about not getting better fuel economy from a diesel than gas,

I run a 4x4 ecobeast with the 3.31 ratio and a fairly hefty load behind it. It pulls with power to spare. I do sometimes wish I had the 3.73 ratio for a bit better tow mileage. Put the rig in tow/haul and just drive it. I get maybe 7-9mpg and that's what you're gonna get with a gasser. My old V10 got the same and made less power.
I've considered a diesel as I can get a nice 6.7L F250 supercrew 4x4 for a screaming deal right now but coming from a superduty to the F150 I have to say it's the superior daily driver.
I drive my truck every day. The F150 is far better daily driver than any of the HD trucks I've driven. If you're looking to upgrade to a pure tow rig the diesel may be right for you.

Doing a quick google search that would have to be a partial yes answer referring to horsepower, torque is equal:
3.5L EcoBoost V-6 Specs
The engine is rated at a maximum 365 horsepower and 420 lb-ft of torque
6.8L Triton® V10 Single Overhead Cam Engine
Delivering 305 horsepower and 420 lb.-ft. of torque in the E-350 and E-450 Cutaway model

Iceboats and 1500 miles
Back in September, I towed my Palomino Puma230 5'er from Wisconsin to Arizona and back with my 2013 F150 Ecoboost. If the terrain was hilly, I used Tow-Haul mode, otherwise stayed in overdrive. I had all the power I could want with my 7,000 lb load, even through the mountains. I couldn't have been happier with that truck. Yes, mileage ranged from 9 - 10, but just decided that you gotta give something to get something. That Ecoboost engine was just great. I used cruise control whenever the terrain was relatively flat and, yes, sometimes on an incline the transmission would downshift from 6 to 5, but not often. Case closed for me! I traded the 5'er last winter on our present A122S, and am now getting 14-18 mpg with the truck. Just got tired of driving a semi. But I still can't complain about that truck and that engine.

I have a first gen V10 at 275hp with 400ft lb torque. Later 3v V10s made the same 365HP as the EB but the EB makes the power at a much lower RPM range. Both are great motors but the EB does tow better in my experience.

I had a 2014 Sunseeker 2900 and it was on the E450 Ford chasis with the V10. Loved the performance of it. Great engine.

What is "noticeable improvement"? Premium gas costs so much more than reg unleaded. Does the improved mileage offset the higher gas price?

In 2 weeks I am going on a trip from Buffalo to Virginia. I plan on using 91 for the trip to see if the gas mileage is better.

How much more is premium than regular in your area? Where I live it's 20 cents. So at a 30 gallon fill up that 6 bucks. I don't consider that "so much more". You will spend more than that having dinner at the local McChoke & Puke!

in NB Canada we are 12 to 15 cents a litre X 4.54 litres to the gallon.
we pay 117.9 a litre for regular.
times that by 4.54 gallons and we get $5.38 a gallon.
Your gas is a gift price wise.

Next weekend we are traveling from Buffalo NY to Harrisonburg / Shenandoah Valley KOA, I plan on using 91 Octane. Hopefully it will improve the mpg.
