Just curious if anyone out there is using an ecodiesel? I have a 2015 Laramie longhorn and will tow a Rockwood 2306 from NW Indiana to Disney World with many stops in between, for a two week period. Anyone have any insight?

I have a 2015 ecodeisel tradesman and tow a 2503S minilite. It handles great. no sway with E4 hitch. The truck pulls the camper with ease. I use the tow haul mode. You might need to get airlift(1000) bags or timbrins if your rear sags or bounces too much. Mine does the bounce a little and I have not added airbags or timbrins.I averaged 14 to 15 miles per gallon towing at 6o mph. I have the 3.55 gear ratio, tow mirrors and trailer brake control. It is great that the EVIC shows the mileage for the trailer and tell you the brake is hooked up. The Ecodiesel will tow your camper with ease. Just watch your payload, but you can go over that and still have no problems.

Thanks Campbuzz and Jim much for the advice. I'm actually getting a 4" lift/level and upping the tires 33->35", adding heavy duty airbags but after this towing season. If I may ask Campbuzz, what is your payload and RV dry weight? Again folks thanks for the info. Jim I did go to that site you linked...very informative...Hawk

The biggest thing you need to watch is your payload. You will only have about 1000 lbs. by adding the extra weight of a lift and heavier tires you are only decreasing what you can carry and tow. Larger tires are like putting a lower final drive in.

My payload is 1580 lbs. =and 7900 lbs trailer tow weight. My camper dry weight is 4450 lbs and tongue weight 625 lbs. If I add 60 lbs for propane 50 lbs for agm battery 90 lbs for hitch my actual tongue weight ia spproximately 825 lbs. I probably have added about 750 lbs ogear in the trailer. So that total weigh t is approximately 5200 lbs before any water in tanks. I also carry about 75 lbs in the bed of the truck. These ecodeisels want to pull loads. Laramie Longhorn, 5'7" bed, Ecodiesel 4x2 will have a 1296# payload and 8700# towing capacity.

If it's 4x4 your payload drops to 1052# and towing drops to 7650#.

You'd probably be OK towing that trailer. You'd still want to hit the scales and get accurate weights. Payload would be the biggest concern.

I don't have an Ecodiesel, but I do have a 2306. Your truck will pull that trailer without any problems.

Scales to get real weights are always the best idea but I can tell you this, airbags with an onboard air compressor will be one of the best upgrades for your truck. Like was stated before, the rear will sag and the ride can get bouncy. The bags will make life easier and more comfortable going across country.
