I always raised the tongue to hitch and unhitch and never used the bars to force the arms onto the bracket. With that being said, I did camp at a site one time the had a significant drop off on the front right TV tire that torqued one arm down significantly and I had trouble removing it, even when lifting the tongue/rear of TV a substantial amount. After that, I started removing the bars when I checked in and then proceeded to the campsite. Took 30 seconds, and it's not like you're going to have issues with it riding just on the ball while you ease down to your campsite. If it was level, I could install arms when hooking up to leave. If unlevel, I'd drag the camper out to a flat area and then install the arms before taking off.
