Equalizer Hitch

I use a Equalizer hitch and was wandering if it is better to use the same spring bar on the same side or to rotate bars from side to side ? Or does it really matter ?

If it's a 12k or 14k, the bars are side specific.....pic is a screenshot from the manual.

This is probably the most original question I've seen in a while

Thanks all, I was just wandering, thinking that the bars being under pressure in the same direction all the time, they might "take a set" and might be a good idea to flip them over in the other direction occasionally. Maybe I'm just over thinking it.

In general unless you stress the metal into the plastic range they will not take a set. Given that and the 12k and 14k (like I have) being non-interchangeable, I wouldn't worry about it.

Anecdotally, before upgrading to the 14k, I ran a 10k unit with a tongue weight of almost 1300# for a year. It worked but the bars were obviously bowed and the hitch had trouble re-centering after a sharp turn. The 10k bars are still straight.

I doubt it matters, but I always use the bars on my 12k on the original sides. Despite the statement in the manual they won't interchange, they do (but I don't.)

Of course it does. We need to set an example of discipline for the younger generation!
