Equalizer hitch and new Ram 2500 6.4L
Just a quick question... I had a 2014 5.0L F150 that I was pulling my TT with and decided to upgrade to a 2014 Ram 2500 Big Horn 6.4L. Problem is...the hitch on the Ram sits 5" higher than the one on my F150. Am I going to need to purchase a longer shank than my Equalizer came with to make up for the height difference?
Top of my receiver is 25 1/2" off the ground on the Ram. I believe the old one was 21". I still have the bottom 2 holes (see photo) in the current shank but not sure if that will make up 4 1/2".
My TT is in storage for the winter but just trying to get this straightened out over the winter.

Remove the hitch head, turn the shaft over and reinstall the head. They work in either direction. Then all the empty holes will be on top giving you more drop.

Won't putting the hole on top only allow for me to make it higher?

I went from a 2012 F150 SCrew FX2 to a 2014 Ram 2500. I dropped to the lowest 2 holes and it is perfect, sits level and rides great. I don't have all of my measurements with me so I can't say exactly what they were.

Yes, I have no idea what I was thinking. If moving the head down to the last two bolt holes won't level the trailer, a new shank is in your future.

When I went from a Ford F-150 to a 2014 Ram 2500 Laramie Longhorn 4x4, I had the same problem, new truck was taller. My Weight Distribution Hitch is a Husky. I just changed out the Shank and I also went with a Class 5 (2.5 inch shaft) where I wouldn't have to use the 2.5 inch to 2.0 inch bushing. I looked everywhere and could only find a Class 5 (2.5 inch) shank on ebay. Here's what I got it it worked great. just make sure you torque the bolts to the spec, my required 260 ft. lbs.

Thank you! I was actually thinking about doing a 2 1/2" shank too so it wouldnt "clang" around with the adapter. I have a few months before it gets warm enough to camp so I'll check around on ebay

Just measure from the center of the bottom bolt head on the head to the center of the bottom bolt hole in the shank. It looks to be around 4 ". you should be all set.
