Equalizer hitch ball install

Question- anyone avoid the 50.00 equalizer brand socket to install the ball on a equalizer hitch head? I have one for axle nuts, but it's too tall. Debated on disassembling the head but thought I would ask here first. There is a Sears socket that seems like it might work....

Got mine at Tractor Supply also. Take out the socket bolts, slide the sockets over and any 1 7/8 socket will work. I also purchased a 40 inch breaker bar to get the necessary torque.

You will probably never find a use for a socket that size again, and buying the thing means it will take up space in your toolbox for no good reason. Let a hitch shop do it. Bring in donuts and they might do it for free!

^X2! I did what brakeman recommends and it was perfect (though in Texas it is Kolache).
