Equalizer Hitch question

I just started using a new Equalizer with 4 pt sway control this year with our new Windjammer. We are about 10 trips in so far and love the setup.

This past weekend we arrived at our campsite and I was in the process of disconnecting the sway bars when I noticed a good sized chunk of metal is missing from where the left side bar enters the port on the hitch itself. I have no idea how it happened but know it happened on the hour long drive to the campground.

Has anyone seen this happen before? I'll be contacting my dealer this week to run it by him.

Have any pics to show what you're talking about?

I'll have to grab a few in the morning. But I will do just that. Thanks!

Take pics and send them to Equalizer directly. I had issues with bowing in my L brackets. Had a reply within 30 mins and they mailed new brackets to me. Very responsive to problems or questions. Great company.

x2 on working directly with Equal-I-zer. If the bar was secured properly with the pin, I can't think how this would happen other than a material defect in the bar. Get a well-focused closeup of that fracture area to send to them.

The engineers at Equalizer will probably want that bar to analyze, and follow up with their supplier. It is best not to alter the fracture area in any way.

I bet he means the "socket" on the hitch that the bar slides into. I have had a small piece break out myself almost like it was chipped. I have been going to send a pic to equal-i-zer but haven't taken the time to do it yet.

Mkayers. You got it! My chunk that is missing is on the top portion of the left side "port" where the bar slides into and is pinned.

Curious to know if you have torqued the socket bolts before or if you have left it as is since you bought it.

I just picked it up in march. The hitch is how it was set up for me at the dealer. Other than the routine preventative maintenance, nothing has been done to it.
