While the goal is that the bars be level with the frame during the initial set-up, the manual does say you can move the L-Brackets to correct under adjustment or when there are changes to "vehicle loading". Page 20.

Both the TV and the trailer should be fully loaded for camping when you do your setup to correct the dealer's attempt. As I said earlier, I had to adjust mine 3 times before I got it as close to perfect as I could.

Ok folks. Spent all morning adjusting and test driving.
With nothing hooked up
Front. 37.5 inches
Rear. 41 inches

Hooked up with no trunnion bars
Front 38.25
Rear. 38.25

Hooked up with trunnion bars
Front 37.5
Rear 39.5

And the trunnion bars are parallel to the tongue now.

I think I have hit the adjustment on the nose? I think??? Lol

Lowered L Bracket one hole and added two spacers.


Let me know what you guys think of the numbers above? By the manual, if I am reading it correctly, I have achieved proper wd since my front measurement is identical hooked up with wd or not hooked up at all??

You definitely moved wt back to the front, how's it tow? To me that's the key in telling you if you got it setup right!

Today we had about 20mph winds and it towed pretty straight until about 55mph then the wind would push it a little. That is a pretty good wind. I am hopeful that on a calmer day she will pull straight about 65mph. We will see but I think it did pretty well given the strong winds today

20 MPH winds are Not "Strong Winds" Gusts from out of Nowhere when you are going 65 or 55 MPH Really makes People Quit "Texting and Talking on the Phone"! Youroo!!

Very true Yooroo. Actually while watching the weather last night they said we had 30-35mph and calming to 20mph today. Lol. I may have to do a little tweaking still but am gonna wait until a test drive on a calmer day

I have to disagree with the idea that some angle to the bars is OK. if you can visibly see that they are not parallel to the A-frame, you will have a wear problem on the bars.

The bars are supposed to ride parallel on the surface of the L-bracket. That is to maximize the surface contact. If the bar is noticeably angled upward toward the L-bracket, then there will only be line-contact (at the front edge of the L-bracket), rather than surface contact. This will cause that leading edge of the L-bracket to dig into the bar(s) during turning, increasing noise and wear. Sway control likely will not be affected, but you will be damaging the bars.

I like your plan of lowering the L-bracket, and adding 1 washer to the head. If the weight-transfer is spot on now, lowering the L-bracket will decrease weight transfer, so you will need to compensate with some number of washers. Might as well start with 1.

I have to agree with theBrakeman, the L brackets tend to creep and to to seek full contact with square trunnion bars when they are not parallel to frame of tt when loaded they will then tilt also. sounds like he has handle on it. Hard to picture but if hitch is lowered on shank would that correct contact. L brackets are easier to adjust first, I have used a small square on them to check alignment

If your L brackets are creeping you need to fix that by adding a shim Here is a picture I got directly from the manufacturer indicating how to prevent the creep.
