I have the Reese Duel Cam WDH and it make a loud pop when I make a sharp turn. Is this normal for this hitch. I assume it's the bars moving in the cams of the sway control.

Mine does the same and was told it was normal. Was also told a bit of petrolium jelly (vaseline) could be used in the cams to reduce noise but I haven't done it and not sure if it's true or recommended.

I was told by my dealer to not put anything in the cams just the ball and where the bars attach to the hitch.

from the Reese install manual : "...MAINTENANCE:
1. DO NOT –use grease on the cams or cam arms.
2. If noise of the system is offensive, a very light coating of lubricant such as Vaseline may be used on the portion of the
cam where the spring bar rides on the cam.
Tongue weights in excess of 1,200 lbs. may require the use of such a lubricant to prevent excessive wear.
3. Keep all painted parts painted to prevent rust and maintain a good appearance. (Do Not paint over labels) ..."

You're going to feel very little.

The biggest difference between your trailer and the heavy tractor you used to tow will be the general wind resistance and heavy cross winds. You'll see what I mean. Not that you'll have any problems, but you will feel it.
I'm already thinking I need a bigger camper

Would it be worth it to have an equalizer or sway control with my truck and trailer?

I would have to give that a resounding "yes!" I don't know if you've towed your camper yet or not, but a 28' camper will definitely tow nicer with a WDH with sway control. How do I know this? Because when I bought my camper last fall, I didn't think I needed one (even though my dealer suggested I did.) I drove it for the first time, it was not pleasant at all. I took it back and the dealer installed a 4-pt Equalzer, and it made a world of difference. Highly recommended, wouldn't go without it now that I've used it!

Yes. Even your 3500 should have a distribution hitch for a trailer of a certain weight.

Check your manual or a stamp on your receiver. It should say something about the maximums for pulling a trailer with and without a WDH.

How long does it take to hook up to one of these?

It took my dealer about an hour to install the Equalzer, it would have taken me two until I read and understood the directions. But it doesn't appear all that complicated.
