Sorry, but I go by the door sticker, same thing dot would if I got pulled over.
It's not just a suggestion.

I'll put this one on the scale next time I am in the city.

My ram was 7919 without me in it.
10k gross.
My 350 is 11 gross.

The 6.7 CUMMINS engine is 1150lbs dry
The V10 is 620lbs.
The ram had wimpy coil springs.
The 350 has leafs.

It all makes a difference.

That truck drove very nice with or without a load.
I would put my Rzr in the bed and forget it was there.

What? 3000 lb payload on a f150?

That could be specd to do that.
They did have a "7700" package.
2wd long box, 7 lug wheels....
It was possible.

Like I said, more power to you. I saw you have an F350 and I was clearly referring to a 250 to 350 transition, not a Dodge 2500 to a Ford 350 transition. You can actually get a 350 derated to a 10K GVWR- nothing changes but the sticker. The 10K limit on the 250 is about money, not safety, IMHO.

In my case the derated F 250 is about licencing and need for annual inspections as a truck over 10,000 lbs. My truck is equipped same as a F350 except 2 inch blocks, springs, diff etc are the same

I had a F 150 with 7650 GVWR package and 1600 lbs payload.

I have only seen 1 2WD with 8 ft and 7 lug wheels. The CCC was 2500 lbs.

Actually, on the model '13 year and likely others, the MaxTow had a GVWR of 7650-7700 with that standard 6 lug wheels. You could get the HD Payload package that had 7 lugs and had a GVWR of 8200. What's funny is that the MaxTow got a 500lb bump in GVWR with NO structural changes whatsoever- confirmed through research of Ford lit and contrary to many confused opinions on the Internet. The HD did have structural changes, however.

I'm fine with the annual safety.
Best inspection you could get for a hundred bucks.
I wish all vehicles on the road would be subject to annual safety.
Would take a lot of crap off the road.

Me too. I just purchased a 2015 F250 with the camper package- meaning it is actually a 350 other than mine has the 2" blocks instead of the 4". My 250 actually has a 3.55 rear axle even though the 3.31 is standard on the 250 and 350. I could have spent an additional $3000 and gotten a 2016 F350(no 15's left remotely close to what wanted), but I felt that $3K was pretty steep for a sticker. I get a kick out of people thinking that DOT is primarily concerned with safety- they are concerned with revenue.

Right. So what's a good way to increase revenue?
Hand out overweight tickets.
