I too, opted for a pair of these.(ebay)..there are a ton of options you can get depending on the options your truck came with ie heated, turn signals etc. You can get the turn signals integrated in the mirror or on the outside housing ( the one I got). Install is 3 nuts & a wire connector. Pull 'em out to tow, push 'em in when done. LOVE having 2 separate mirrors in one!
Had the slide on ones on a previous truck...couldn't stand the vibration.

I use the clip on ones. I have had no problem with them. Heated, turn signals are nice on the mirror but the cost is not worth it. IMHO

Extension Mirrors

I have to use the clip on mirrors. There is no factory tow mirror for the Expedition. I've used them for years and and haven't had a problem with them.

I had the Cipa slip ons when I had my 99 F150 and they were very easy to use.

I started out with a set of CIPA mirrors on my 2004 Dodge Ram and then a buddy had a set of Factory tow mirrors he took off his truck since he was selling it and gave me a killer deal on factory tow mirrors - after using the factory tow mirrors - I will pay the extra for the factory mirrors - night and day diffrence and they work with the electronic mirror switch in my door so adjustments are easy

I don't want to hijack but any recommendations for the clip on mirrors? I just switched tow vehicles from a GMC Sierra to a Ford Expedition. I used the CIPA slip-on mirrors with the GMC and liked them, but there is no factory replacement or slip-on option for the Expedition.

I followed Turbs' advice (and his install thread) with great success, and I am not mechanically inclined. No problems and the mirrors are exactly what the doctor ordered. His is the perfect answer to this question, IMO.

I went with the clip on mirrors rather than forgo the $450.00 for the aftermarket ones. We have a 27RLWS and I forgot to put the mirrors on and drove about 10 miles before I realized it. When I put the extensions on I found myself looking in the factory mirrors more than the extensions. Of course we live in an area where the roads twist and turn so a quick glance to either mirror will reveal the rear of the trailer. They work well for the price and maybe one day I will go with the OEM mirrors.

They are a little more $, but they are big, they are stable, easy to mount and adjust, and they are universal, so you can always move them to a new TV if needed. We took a 2,800 mile trip tis summer, and these worked really well.

X2 for the Grand Areo mirrors. Dealer recommended these and I don't regret them. Never have a problem with them shifting, and they're prominent enough that I find I look at these first before my factory ones. They're fairly rigid so I find as long as I reclamp them in the same spot, I rarely need to adjust them. I think I only had to do it once all of last year.

Plus it's nice to have both mirrors available. I use the tow mirrors to see behind and I adjust the factory mirrors down slightly to keep an eye on where the trailer tires meet the pavement. (I like to verify I'm staying in the lane when on curves.)

Expedition is a 2012. I will look more closely at the Grand Aero mirrors. The only other one that looked interesting is the CIPA Universal mirror, which is about $33/each, although it still requires straps to tighten around main mirror housing. Anything with straps just doesn't strike me as being very rigid.

They work pretty well. On windy days they catch to much air and will push my mirrors in. Be carefull to not over tighten. The gear inside is plasctic and will strip.

I have the CIPA slip on mirrors on my truck. I had them on my past truck to. I love them. When I bought my recent truck I had the option of getting the factory tow mirrors but again decided to get the slip ons. The factory tow mirrors are huge and of course are there all the time and makes pulling into the garage and every day parking I little more challenging. I put them on when needed and take them off when I don't. I have no issues with vibration or any other issues.

Not exactly the same truck but I installed a set of these type mirrors on a 2007 Ford F150. It was simple to install after watching a Utube Vid or two. Took an hour or so. Great mirrors and worked perfect on my truck for several years. Best upgrade I added to the truck. When I traded the truck, they looked so stock, dealer didn't notice that they we not OEM.

I will install the factory type mirrors when weather permits. I just want something in the mean time until then. I am supposed to pick up my trailer on Saturday and think I may need something to get the unit home. Maybe I am over thinking the necessity to do this for a 30 minute ride. Not sure the factory mirrors will provide much of a view to get unit home. I will try the Camco ones to try and get unit home and if they turn out to be garbage I will return them. Thanks for everyone's feedback...

I have been using a pair of these on a 2013 Expedition EL.
They vibrate a little, but not to the point of being useless.
Cannot fold the power mirrors in when connected.
Cannot find anything better at this time.
Does anyone have any info?

I used strap-on mirrors on the old Trailblazer when I was towing a popup and they work ok.

With the TT now I use the Aero ones on the Suburban (when I remember).

Aero 2 Towing Mirrors

Best ones are the OEM, but I don't tow enough to justify the price. Next TV will have them.

I purchased the CIPA mirrors but had to return them as they would not fit my F150 with turn signals in the mirrors. I found the FIT Industries mirrors on Amazon and the fit perfectly, also supposed to fit Expeditions and Navigators. Hope this helps someone looking into slip on mirrors.

That is VERY helpful to know. I got the CIPA mirrors from Amazon, and their site had a place to enter data about the truck to make sure you order the correct mirrors. Don't know if the Amazon procedure would have recognized your mirrors with the signals on them, though. So that's a good thing to keep in mind.

As for the CIPAs in general, I really like mine. Easy to install. Look pretty good and no real vibration. I'm sure there are better ones, but these seem to get the job done.
