Ain't that the truth. Nissan and Toyota really changed the half ton market when they started introducing trucks that were rated in that 9500 range. It gave the average weekend warriors some bad ideas. But it did work out for the rest of us... Fprd and others now offer nice solid daily drivers that can still haul a really cool and roomy rig. But it's true, there's a limit and really good reason 3/4, 1 tons, and up exist.

I'll tell you I'm running 305/50R20XL's at 50psi when I tow. I think their 7 ply. I'm surprised at how much weight those things carry w/o complaints. That said I don't have a literal ton of pin weight plus god knows what else in my bed

It isn't what EcoBoost owners "think", it is what that truck is actually capable of. That truck is as strong as older 3/4 tons, and if used responsibly, is a great alternative.
And all we get from bowtie owners is jealousy!
Maybe one day Chev will make a truck worth buying?

Why would I be jealous of a 365/450 gas motor 1/2 ton ??? Hell, mine came with 360/650 and now I am sitting at 575/1200, I also just bought a 2013 DRW CC duramax for 49OTD , about 10k cheaper then a echo and twice as capable

Back to the discussion of 1/2 ton, 3/4 ton, and 1 ton trucks. This is not a Chevy, Dodge, Ford, Toyota fight thread.

Hahaha. I shouldn't laugh but I was a huge Chevy fan till I had to work on them in a fleet garage. I will probably never buy a GM product again. But I still do own a 76 Chevy Scottsdale half ton. But that was a different generation of Chevy trucks.

Someone on this site said Dodge was releasing their Cummings 5.9 pkg to the 1500 line. That too would be a huge mistake for the very reason you mentioned.

Yeah sorry, had to get my GM dig in for the day. It's nothing personal, I've owned two and both failed me miserably!

My general rule of thumb for my setup is 7500lbs of trailer weight (empty) or less. That's what I'm imposing as a limit on myself with my up coming purchase. I camp with my father and friends most often. None of are us little guys. Then add in a few hundred pounds of wood, all the gear that stays in the camper, food and beverages, and toys. And you're skirting with 9300lbs in no time!

Well, not all F-150 owners believe it can do ANYTHING. Mine is a good truck. My last company truck was an '02 F-150, 7700 Series 4x4. It was an amazing truck, and is still going strong with over 330,000 miles. That being said, I am considering trading for a diesel 3/4 ton because I think pulling 6,000# is a bit too much for my truck, and will cause it to have an early demise. Just my nickel's worth... (inflation strikes!)
